Re: What was the last album you bought? Give us a review!
You proably find it out quite easily, but in the end you wouldn´t know more than me, though.

In Germany I bought King Crimson's Discipline and it's....erm.....crap.
It might have sounded new and fresh at the time but today it sounds unspeakably cheesey and horribly dated, which is a bit of a shock because KC's classic albums are renowned for being timeless. The guitar playing by both Belew and Fripp is unimpressive and Bruford sounds like a drum machine.
Strong recommendation to avoid.
*gasp*!
Heretic!
Thou shall be judged in the court of the Crimson King for this act of herecy.
So what I'm trying to say is that I think that Discipline is a classic and one of the best albums KC has ever done. It's surely better than Poseidon for example. My opinion anyway.

So explain what´s so great about this album that seems to lack any emotion? Electric drums, spoken vocals and monotonic song structres don´t exactly make an exciting album in my book. Ok, I´ve heard it only once so far and maybe it takes some time to get into...but what exactly makes that one a classic for you?

Hmm there's Matte Kudusai which has none of what you've mentioned. Thela Hun Ginjeet that's got a terrific rather menacing sounding for want of a better term (i suck at describing music) breakdown section towards the end (though it does have a narrative as opposed to singing for most part) and The Sheltering Sky which i consider quite a beautiful instrumental piece. Do give it a couple of spins more before you get rid of it or relegate it to the deep-end of your collection. I have no problems with the rest of the album either but these are IMO the best it has to offer.

Re: What was the last album you bought? Give us a review!
As Trollkien said, there's Matte Kudasai, one of the most emotional and best KC ballads ever. Thela Hun Ginjeet has a great feel and interesting back story behind it, Indiscipline is just pure shred joy with interesting vocals, The Sheltering Sky is beautiful and calm instrumental, and the other songs are just pure technical brilliance. And all the lyrics are humorous and great. In my opinion of course.
