Agree.

Btw, cool to see the Dougie Q&A section of the forum plugged on the Melodic Rock noticeboard. emoticon

The first response is slightly irritating, though. Considering the answers for that question are in the replyed post. emoticon

I know but you're bound to get the occasional idiot on forums like these. Generally people on that board are fairly knowleadgable and accommodating, it couldn't hurt to advertise this forum there (and in other similar ones) ...

At least they didn't delete the thread straight away (like my HTP tour petition last year).

"So what does this album have to offer? Well, in my opinion, not an awful lot. I know many on this forum quit like this album and rate it as the best JLT-era album, but I have to strongly disagree on that. This album to me sounds bland and uninspired. None of the songs really jump out of the speakers and grab you."

I also totally agree with Ali's review. Rahul does make a good point about context, it being an early 80's soft rock album, although perhaps if it wasn't under the 'Rainbow' moniker it would be easier to digest. Anyway, as far as early 80's soft rock goes Journey's Escape and REO Speedwagon's Hi Infidelity are far superior to Bent Out Of Shape. emoticon

That was kinda the point I was trying to make actually... if that band wasn't called Rainbow, then this album would be easier to digest!

Compared to Dio era Rainbow BOOS, IMHO is second rate. As a JLT record I have grown to like it a lot. Good songs and well played. What I especially like is the production, RG finally captured a spark in the studio that was missing on the two previous JLT recordings.
David Rosenthal's work with Rainbow was outstanding both live and in the studio.

Me too, but he's way wrong on "The Shed". That is a masterful hard rock number!!

BOOS is definitely one of JLT's strongest vocal performances.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Christos' first paragraph is absolute nonsense. It's the second one that is spot on! emoticon

Totally agree on this conlusion. emoticon

Like all purple/rainbow albums also Bent Out Of Shape has it's own sound and atmosphere, new ideas, wonderful melodies and strong musicianship also part from Blackmore's unmistakable guitar. JLT proves again he's the best pop singer ever in the business of rock.
