I heard them play Difficult to Cure (Rainbow) several times when Ritchie was in the band. Seemed to work ok...

You reckon? Never liked it. Always seemed a bit daft to me. Like a kid's party tune!

And we don't want 'ok'. We want 'brilliant'! emoticon

Brian is talking about Graham Bonnet because

I wouldn't mind hearing snippet's of instrumental
bit's of solo song's before SOTW.
Especially GB era Rainbow.

You say IG couldn't touch GB
well I must admit you do an
uncanny impression of GB yourself,
I suppose that mean's you are
better than IG.

That's what it sound's like to me.

Btw Brian you also do a smokin' Doogie White.

I take it you are not having such a good day?
Go home relax and have a Banana they are good for you
and they make you feel better.

Thanks for the complements Larry. What I meant by IG couldn't touch GB was that I couldn't see Gillan, nowadays, having the breathing to sing some of GB's more intense tunes. Especially EOTW.
And yes, in my younger days, as I told you, I could match Gillan note for note and equal his intensity and tone. I also did a good Glenn Hughes, and still can. As usual in my life, I missed my calling.

can i just remind folks that this did actually happen at the concerto shows in the late 90's.
jon, steve, ian and roger all did solo stuff in the first half.
personally, i think given that, over some crap opening act, i would take that every time!

Don't you mean JLSqueely Ones great guitar work and Pete Townshend splits with his unplugged Strat.

It's not solo stuff, but some of the tracks on "Born Again" sound just like early 70s Purple, I'd love to hear Gillan do some of those songs again, I also think they would fit right in with DP now. Alas, another dream that will stay unborn... emoticon
