Pretty nice collection of Deep Purple vinyls for a 16 year old, eh? Pity few people like them here in Canada, or at least around where I live. Seems the only records I need to complete my collection are "Who Do We Think We Are", "Purpendicular" and "Abandon". Though for some reason I cannot find the latter two anywhere, so I assume they were never released on LPs?

Purpendicular and TBRO were both released in Holland on vinyl, and most likely Japan as well... the Japanese Abandon double LP was misteriously pulled, after pre orders were set up and everything. emoticon

That certainly is an impressive collection for any age of person. Do you know if Deep Purple used any other record label other than Polydor at any time during there many reincarnations. I am in New Zealand and have access to many of the larger record stores in Australia. I am trying to rebuild my collection after my brother decimated it by sitting on the LP's. I would prefer vinyl but CD's will do if that is all that is available.

Re: Collector's Heaven

I have the US issue of Deep Purple-Deep Purple (aka the 3rd album) on the Tetragrammaton label.

Last I knew this was ultra rare and worth $15,000 USD. This was due to the fact that the label went bankrupt a few weeks after release and there were never many pressings made and those that were had been recalled because of takeover by Warner Bros.

I can no longer locate the article that documented this. It was in a rock mag but it was some time back before the internet was so widespread. I am curious to know the current value. Now that the web is so popular I figured the value may have decreased because possibly it can be found now altough I cannot find the album or info about it anywhere.

Its in mint shape. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks

Well, there is some confusion here, for one, it wasn't the thrid album when Warner found theriselves with Deep Purple, it was the fourth, The Concerto For Group And Orchestra... it was the pulled item in question, and that is a well known fact.
It was never worth the price you claim either, it's actually listed here somewhere.

It's worth around 1500 US if I'm not mistaken, not 15000... I shouldn't be, afterall I have two copies of it, one of them I purchased from a girl in Japan of all places... small world.

If the price needs adjusting, I'll edit the post, but I'm pretty sure thats the current running value, in just the UK alone.

Thanks for the info it's more than I had! It still makes it the most valuable records I've heard of. I usually don't look into these things tho so I don't have much to compare it too.

Re: Collector's Heaven

It's definetly a highly sought after Lp... one of the more collectable items in their catalog, anyone who has one, needs to know they have a valuble collectors item.

But it's really only one, there are items that are way rarer than that, and worth alot more, the main problem with this one, is that no one knows much about it, the story of them getting pulled is well known, but what happen the the albums after they came back to the shelf, is the biggest mistery...
Funny, I have a white label promo of this, on the Tet label, and it's still not worth anywhere near the pulled green label Warners edition, and I also have a white label promo of the Warners edition as well, but it's worth the least in the lot.
Even the final product is worth more than the promo on Warner, cause it's the official version that was re printed.

To my knowledge, they pulled them, and left them in a whearhouse somewhere to rot.
So the only copies of the album in question, that exist on the silver Tet label, are the copies that were bought the first week, and that is the straight scoop in this rare gem.

I also have Emeretteta single - as I'm very, very drunk, at the moment, I can't tell you what the A / B side is!
