I like Junkyard Blues but was expecting... I don't know... blues maybe. Something along the lines of Don't Make Me Happy or Walk On.

Re: Junkyard Blues...
I don't get why people are griping about the word blues being misplaced in this song.
It has nothing much to do with blues music, hence "Junkyard Blues" it deals with recall of good times, and lands on missing them, but is nothing more than a prhase really.
Some of the guitar is a bit bluesy though, so not all knowledge of the situation is lost, but it's still a jazz/rock fusion heavy song.

Re: Junkyard Blues...
I certainly wouldn't dispute that!
It just so obviously has nothing to do with the blues, in the way it's normally thought of.

Re: Junkyard Blues...
At fist glance of the title, before I heard the song I had a preconceived notion. So what's wrong with expecting a little blues (especially from this versitile band) if the word blues is in the title?

Re: Junkyard Blues...
Nothing, but pre conceived notions, don't always turn out... Myself, I did nothing of the sort, cause I see it as a phrase "Junkyard Blues" the 'blues' coming after junkyard, instantly grabbed me as something more than just the blues... turns out it is.

Well, I had the same with Blackmore's Night's Rainbow Blues...
That was a little of a dissapointment when I heard it. Tull's original version had a little blues in the song. I like that version better to be honest.

Hhmm, that track is a different example, but it fits the subject, although I completely disagree, and find it better than Tull's version, and JB put together.
(a personal favorite of mine, where Blackmore takes me home, it's so right for me, it's spooky)

Me too, and then I was relieved to find out it wasn't blues.
The bass work is just fantastic. I turned up the bass a couple notches (on this particular song) and it took it to a whole new level.
I also prefer the ten song version of ROTD, with KTG going into JB. It just seems more gritty this way; instead of MTV thrown in the middle of the two.

Re: Junkyard Blues...
Junkyard Blues? It just sounds so familiar.
--- I climbed on the back of a giant albatross
What flew through a crack in the cloud
To a place where happiness reigned all year round
Where music played ever so loudly
