Rapture sales..
Ian Gillan claims that Rapture is the best selling album since PS.... "it have done extremely good.. the record company is absolutely thrilled with us.. unbeliveably.."
If so it have sold better than the 3 million+ selling HOBL album.
But he perhaps means compared to todays lower sales in general.
Would love to know those sales though...

Re: Rapture sales..
u have to take Gillan with a grain of salt...HOBL was actually well promoted...MTV played the video for Bad Attitude quite a bit...I remember a VJ actually talking up HOBL on air...
After the disaster that was SM (which aslo got pretty strong backing)they went down the tubes record wise....so I would beleive, based on European sales that ROTD is the best selling record since TBRO.

Re: Rapture sales..
If the TBRO sold better than S&M it would have had to sell 1,5 million or more and if Rapture bettered that.. well that would be something.. really.

Re: Rapture sales..
Is there a database somewhere we can check? Why is it so allusive to find this out?

Coz there isn't a world governing 'record sales' body. It's all estimations and guesses.

Re: Rapture sales..
"S&M" reached #87 in the Billboard chart and also charted in many parts of the world, so ROTD outsell it heh???
Maybe ROTD is the bestseller with exception of HOBL, S&M, TBRO, _|_', /-\ & ))).

Re: Rapture sales..
PS sold a couple million.
There is no way HOBL broke a million. Mabye now, after 20 years...probably not.
Everything else did squat.
This band has been a day late and a dollar short, never striking the iron when it was hot.

Re: Rapture sales..
PTsTP.. are you american by any chance?
Because you guys have a tendency to count what happens in america as valid for the rest of the world too....
PS= 5-6 mil.
HoBL= 2.5-3 mil.
S&M= 1.5 mil.
These figures are from the time these records were released or some time after.
Have this from a trustworthy sourse.
