I hope this doesn't wear off, as it's great feeling this positive about a Deep Purple release.
Bananas was enjoyable, but it did wear off after a while. Still a decent record, but I just prefer the more progressive meanderings of this latest release. It screams longevity to me. I hope it stays that way!
Yes Rahul - very well put - I think thats what I was trying to say - getting a buzz from not hearing it and looking forward to the next time I hear it.
I'll come to you next time I'm trying to say something... I suppose the fee might be extortionate though
And I wasn't even sure if what I was saying made any sense!
I did the same thing as you did with Fireball today. Hadn't heard it in ages, but today I put it on in the car, cranked it loud, and was blown away all over again. It still sounds magnificent. Ian Gillan is just terrific. What a voice. I know that's stating the bleeding obvious, but he just floored me all over again.

I still enjoy listening to it it. Only have had this feeling for Perfect Strangers and Purpen in that last 21 years.

Agree - this album blows me away. I'm in the middle of the Morse/Airey trade off in MTV. This album has so much to offer - dare I say this might be their ..... I can't - I don't want to start a war.

Re: The Thrill Is Wearing Off.
by the way it might be their last album. Or they might record one more and that would be it.
Ian Paice said in the interview for the Polish magazine that probably when he reaches the age at which Jon retired, he might retire as well...
well that makes what...in 5 years?....
We should remember though that they will spend 2 years touring and the other guys are a bit older
so you never know. anyway, IMO ROTD is an album worthy of finishing it all off

Re: The Thrill Is Wearing Off.
What a legacy, ending as an obscure fusion band making albums with no thrill.
Who could have foreseen this?

Re: The Thrill Is Wearing Off.
Paicy qutting!
I think he should be replaced with David Wekl.
Wekl and Morse could then do awesome runs together.
And rock our sox off.

Certainly not me. This cd rocks. Takes a while, but I love it now. Totally different from anything they have done.

Re: The Thrill Is Wearing Off.
Again: Don't do the same stupid thing I've done! I judged the whole album from a bad download from the net! Today I bought the original release, and my opinion has changed completely!
ROTD is,IMO, their best release in many, many years!!!

I did..as soon as Blackmore left. The prophesies have held true.
