I liked RB as a guitarist before he went of to La-La Land , and I have to say I like Steve Morse´s work just as much. To me , Steve has done an excellent job in Deep Purple , I think he is playing the old " signature solos " really well , and I actually like that they brought in a guy that was totally different. RB is not better than Morse , or vice-versa , they are just different.I have played in many bands myself over the years , and fully understand how difficult it is to be around someone like RB , day in and day out. Im surprised they went on with him for so long , actually.....
Apart from that , I know several players , both on-line and IRL , that I would consider as good as Morse and RB , if not better , they are off course almost all totally un-known...
Enjoy the band for what it is today ( or dont !) , but please keep in mind , there is no good or bad , only different opinions !
