Exactly!!!

And the expert says....

Who cares what those so called experts say anyway? I've also read "experts" slamming Ritchie's playing too. Means nothing to me. I'll decide for myself what I like and what I don't. Otherwise, someone may convince me that Def Leopard is what rock music is all about. Yeh, pour some sugar on me.

DP never fit the mold in my opinion which is good. The fact that Morse isn't a DINO (if this is a legitimate point) is a good thing - this is why he fits in so well with this phase of DP. Correct me if I'm wrong - has Page created any DINO riffs of recent?

I think this has more to do with your expectations and anticipations - many times Morse playing seems smooth and effortless. And just for the record ... he doesn't "always does".

Well said. "Experts" don't agree anyway.

Say, I don't think you need to be liek more intelligent or anything to like Ritchie's playing, but one gotta realize that his selection of notes, tones, colours and vibrato takes a lot of both technical and musical ability. And a lot of things sounds easy when it's done well.

Can I just officially state that, by and large, I cannot abide categories. Why can people not be more accepting of different styles, not just in music, but in all things? Expert Shmexpert say I!!!!

ST, I think you take it too far. Categories are necessary, or it would be difficult to dicuss anything. But there are good reasons to be careful with pre-judgements on things because they belong in certain categories.
There's not one single category of music that I totally love, or hate. Quality comes in many forms. So does rubbish.

Can two completely "different" guitarists both come the the same quality bracket?

Can you defy categorization and still be good?
