Re: First Rapture of the Deep review

2 minutes are not enough to consider a song like "overconstructed". Not enough time to a complete analysis that concludes in overconstruction. 2 minutes are neither a faithfull sample to claim that is a masterpiece. We either have solos available. So, don't let prejudice take the control of your mind. And think positively. In a little time, we will solve this mistery about Rapture of the Deep. By the moment, it sounds promising to me. But I don't wanna give a definitive judge till I hear the whole album.

I totally agree. From what I have heard I like it. but you can't give a "true" review. When I first heard the 30 second Bananas cuts I only really liked a few tunes. But after hearing the whole CD I can say Bananas is my favorite Morse era Purple release. I'll reserve true judgement after I hear the full CD.

Re: First Rapture of the Deep review

Those 30 seconds Banana's samples were absolutely useless. I'm grateful for this 100 seconds we have now, they really help to take a more consistent picture of the album, but it's still insufficient to give a definitive conclusion.

Anyway, I trust Deep Purple. Even though Purpendicular and Abandon are not as good as the previous albums, we all have to agree that they own a musical level that other old and contemporary would wish to have in this years. I've never heard a mediocre studio album from the band, and I'm sure that I never will. At least, and according to the promising samples, Rapture of the Deep will keep the high musical level and will keep up the glorious Purple name.

I agree. The promo is promosing. The Rapture song sounds like it can be mk Morse's best song. Over all I like the more agressive feel compared to Bananas. And I think the compositions sound more interesting than Bananas as well. I was quite dissapointed with the last album..

Maybe we have the best album since the reunion albums here?

The chorus of Rapture Of The Deep("I Can´t stand living this way..." ) is one of the most powerful things in a Purple song in ages.

Yes, to me the title track sounds like the best mk Morse song ever. Great "riff", beautiful vocal melody and a powerful chorus.. Great composition!

Yeah, I downloaded the ROTD promo a couple of weeks back, and boy has it whet my appetite for the album. It seems to be heavier and more tradionally Purple than Bananas - which is excellent. I like Bananas, but it has a commercial sound about it. ROTD, going by the promo, sounds more raw and more like vintage Purple.

Can't wait!!
