what do you think of the cover art?
me for one dont like it, it looks like Jethro Tull's 'Rock Island' cover dyed in blue/purple and then the Stormbringer era DP logo thrown in just for the heck of it...
WHY do they use the Stormbringer era logo? why would IG use the logo if he is so touchy with the MK3 songs?

Re: what do you think of the cover art?
It´s the songs that concern him, why should he care for cover art, as long as it´s not as offputting as the Born Again album?
Personally I like it a lot, even if it does remind a bit of albums like Tull´s Rock Island or Wishbone Ash´s Locked In.
It does have significance to the title and the water is in Deep Purple. The whole style of it quite appeals to me and I prefer cover paintings over photos(that are not artically done) anyway.
So I must say I like it.

Re: what do you think of the cover art?
i think its alright. i prefer a painting to computer art or a photo (although i quite liked bananas)
still i'm not judging a book by its cover, bring on the tracks!!

Re: what do you think of the cover art?
Hopefully not a bad omen, because "Rock Island" is Tull's all-time worst album.

Re: what do you think of the cover art?
According to the official DP site the artwork is not the real artwork for ROTD. See here:
http://www.deep-purple.com/news/?f=54
The internet is a brilliant thing but can also spread rumors that are untrue.
At the moment there is a rumor regarding the artwork of the upcoming Rapture Of The Deep including an image. However, this artwork is not - repeat, not - what the album will look like. The artwork in question is also not made by Ioannis. The artwork in the rumor is one that was proposed to the band by someone else which they rejected.
The real artwork is being fine tuned as we speak.
Keep your eye on this website. It will be re-designed according to the look of the new album as soon as the artwork is done.
What about release date for NA???

Ok, it´s not the real cover, but just to straight something out !! Look carefully at it , it´s the same kind of logo they´ve been using since Purpendicular ! the D and P in non capital letters ! I don´t know how can it be confused with the old MK3 logo i suggest you revisit the album covers

I think you should look a bit more closely. The Deep Purple lettering on the top is of course the more modern one. But have a look at the centre of the things, you can´t possibly oversee the Stormbringer Logo in the middle of the purple water.

Hadn´t I posted the rejected artwork they hadn´t updated the site at all, maybe we just need to spread more rumours.

If that's true I'm gonna have to buy the pricy import.
