---INTERVIEWS---

Michael Bradford:

To my ears, this album has a great classic Deep Purple sound, without trying to re-write a classic song. Steve Morse and Don Airey have really worked together to make that great guitar-organ combination sound that drove the early records.

Roger Glover:

We're about 80% done with the record. In about two weeks Ian (Gillan) will be back in Los Angeles (at producer Michael Bradford's home strudio) finishing up the vocals then we're pretty much done. The album is much heavier than Bananas

Ian Paice Studio Report:

I just finish my part for the next CD last month. And that will be going through its final processes during the summer, and hopefully it will be out end of the summer, or sometime before Christmas.

At the moment, there are 12 tracks there - there are probably eight pieces of music and four songs. So we'll find out in the next four or five weeks which ones are going to hack it, and hopefully if they'll cut the mustard, then we've got a complete CD. If not, we'll have to go in and cut another two or three tracks.

There's two or three fairly heavy tracks, and there is some very, very strange stuff going on. As I say, at the moment, they're sort of half-cooked. You can't really tell until the vocals and the top lines are on, but there is some great playing, some very interesting ideas. I think a lot of fans who liked the last two or three albums will definitely enjoy it, and I think a lot of the people who like a lot of the older stuff will enjoy it too.

Unfortunatly this is the only one so far(found it on the shop emi site that CleveLandSteamer posted).

I guess we´ll have to wait a bit to see larger versions. Great to finally see it anyway, except for the Stormbringer lettering in the water I like it.

Is this cover the rejected one or the new one...?

The illustration looks quite good but the total lay out looks a bit amateurish to me.

Okay... According to the review it's a great record (9/10)... Okay... But WHERE ARE THOSE LONG TRACKS THAT "WILL FEATURE THE BAND MORE INSTRUMENTALLY"????? Or maybe I was only dreaming that Mike Bradford said so...????

Yeah, I was also wondering, the average lenght is about 5 but that was the case with Abandon and Purpendicular too. And even bananas had one 6 minute and one 7 minute song(longer than the two longest tracks with almost 6 and 6 and a half here).

Re: All the info in one place

I have again been away from here for awhile, so this is the first I heard of the new album, and it finally being named.

Good news no doubt.

Hey....I'm wondering....when it said "everywhere except USA and Japan"...did they mean the release date or the record company?

In other words, will it be ready in the U.S. on 10/21/05 or not?

Several months ago, didn't someone say that the new DP album would be called something else completely silly and stupid? I don't recall what it was, but I remember not being impressed with the name at all.

I'm glad that person was either joking, and/or flat out wrong.

I'd love to hear more long organ/guitar riffing back and forth, but recall on the old studio albums...even the old ones, didn't have that to any great extent. It was the live ones that had that.

So what we need is a live album in 2007, taken from some concert in 2006, promoting the studio album from 2005. And there you will see the great Hammond Organ and Morse guitar spectacular. If such a thing is meant to exist.

I wouldn't bet on it....so that's why I always keep POWERHOUSE, DEEP PURPLE IN CONCERT, and SCANDANAVIAN NIGHTS-- 1970, and MADE IN JAPAN close by my side; as consumate examples of what was done right, and will probably never be done to such a glorious extent...ever again in my lifetime.

Some info about the different releases in German:

http://www.the-aviator.de/forum/messages/239.html

According to it, there will be a limited double lp release. No information about the tracks on it or the release date.
