Therefore, you can understand why I hinted at "hepatic coma" in my previous post? You've hit the connection bang on, 100%. Hepatic simply means "liver". If you drink heavily you get chronic liver problems. Usually you develop cirrhosis. If this condition gets too bad you die. When you die from cirrhosis or similar conditions you end up in a hepatic coma. Another form of "rapture of the deep", which usually leads on into the "Ultimate" "rapture of the deep"i.e. you die. That's another very "Deep" slant on this album title. - What I/we fear the most? - The way I/we are most likely to die? There is a lot going on here. This is why I think it is actually an incredibly clever title. And no doubt, they're streets ahead of us when it comes to what it means. It gets better the more I think about it. It is a term used to describe "nitrogen narcolepsy". I think IG describes his first experience of "narcking out" somewhere. Here is a medical definition I've found, which I hope explains this angle. nitrogen narcosis n. 1. Narcosis produced by nitrogenous materials such as those occurring in certain forms of uremia and hepatic coma. 2. A stuporous condition variously characterized by disorientation, euphoria, and loss of judgment and skill, attributed to nitrogen entering the blood during breathing of normal air at increased pressure, as occurs with deep-sea divers. Also called rapture of the deep. When you come back up, your body has to re-adapt and if it goes wrong, that's when you get "The Bends". Nasty! And the obvious follow up title!! Mind you, knowing them there are probably plenty more meanings. Like it obviously includes "Deep" in the name. But I would strongly plump for the diving theme. I've already spotted one in the first part of the definition: hepatic coma, but that probably is getting too "Deep"!! Here is the reference: http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/nitrogen%20narcosis nondisclosed_email@example.com (PoshOldSlapper)Wed, 29 Jun 2005 07:59:05 +0000 Re: Rapturehttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p154800,from=rss#post154800https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p154800,from=rss#post154800I think a band referring to it's own name in an album title after close to four decades of existance is a sign of having very few ideas or just bad taste...nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rezi)Wed, 29 Jun 2005 06:20:57 +0000 Re: Rapturehttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p154799,from=rss#post154799https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p154799,from=rss#post154799I thought they stick to one-word only.
