UPDATE on the new album !
Deep Purple began recording their new studio album on April 1st 2005 at Mike Bradford's own studio, and were due to work on it for much of the month. The writing sessions from earlier in the year mean that everyone was primed, and Mike says they were planning a couple of longer songs to showcase the band instrumentally a little more.

I LOVE the idea of some longer more technically demanding songs.

Re: UPDATE on the new album !
That's nothing new actually - we knew about it for some time now, didn't we?
As far as the "longer songs" go - remember the "Bananas being the Purple Sgt Pepper" story, and don't get excited too much, pls...
...Apart from which, I would LOVE to get the new CD before the end of the year anyway.
PS. Any news about the recording contract?

Oh No..not longer songs to showcase the instrumental side of things. That went out by way of Blackmore and Lord. I can see it only as a widdlefest.
widdle widdle
woobeda woobeda
widdle widdle
some soppy vocal like "go baby go" then back to
'widdle widdle
woobeda woobeda
widdle widdle
the comes an Airey solo
tinkle tinkle tinkle (on the piano)
and finish it off with duo widdlin
widdle(tinkle) widdle (tinkle)
come on guys...stick to songs more like House Of Pain and Walk On. In fact let Bradford write and play guitar on them all and you may have something that resembles a DP album.
But longer tunes to show off can only sound like the Dixie Chics ( or whatever widdlin wibbler name Morse called that band of his) meets the softer side of Rainbow (Glover and Aireys input).

Re: UPDATE on the new album !
Bring on the instrumental firepower! I loved the directness of "Bananas," but I would love to hear the band stretch out. I hope Morse takes a cue from "Bananas" in making his leads more memorable, less notes-per-minute.

That sure would have been something. I do think he's grown better over the years, though.
