Re: Rapture tour edition

OK I'll answer my own question. Birkenhead and Liverpool retailers (HMV and Virgin)have not got the tour edition, in fact they said its not on their database nor their websites. Maybe it's not released today? Amazon.co.uk havn't got the proper track listing for it and it says it will be dispatched within 4 to 6 weeks.

You can't tease me saying its out this week and then not providing me with the goods!!!!

The release date (at least here in Germany) is February 24th...

Re: Rapture tour edition

Firstly a big hello to everyone. emoticon

Next,
After purchasing this CD on the day of release in the UK, I do find it somewhat frustrating that Edel should decide to release a 'better' version of the album compelling fans to re-purchase the same material with a few additional bits.
I agree with above posts, I do already own far too many live recording of SOTW and HWS, but I guess a version with Airey would boost my collection.
Also, provided the second disc does contain a sufficient number of tracks to make re-purchasing the first disc worthwhile, I shall probably buy it.
I also agree that a DVD would be good too.

Re: Rapture tour edition

Just got the tour edition. Nice looking package, some good live versions of the old tunes. But awful "new version" of CQA - it's just a even more basement-ish demo mix, like it's 1979 - and really bad sound on Rapture live. Gillan is drowned in soundmud. They play good, though. But still I would call these two tracks totally unprofessional due to lack of decent mix, sound and production. Half way through Rapture I just skipped it...

Not worth the money.

Re: Rapture tour edition

I bought the limited tour edition at Amazon (Germany), released 24th February.
Having to buy two copies of ROTD in order to get Things I never said and Well-dressed guitar is a bit frustrating, but at least I've got an extra CD for the car now...

my review of CD 2:
1) CQA: pseudo-unplugged. not really my cup of tea. the vocals are outstanding, but the instrumentation is too thin IMHO. I prefer the original version.
2) Things I never said: good song indeed. but I admit I expected even more, with the song being praised so much by some posters.
3) Well dressed guitar: just brilliant. after listening to it for the first time I pressed "repeat 1 song" and listened to it over and over again. that song alone was worth buying the double CD for me emoticon
4) ROTD live: basically okay, but the vocals sound too muddy (see review above).
5) Wrong man live: ditto.
6) HS live: I didn't expect much from getting the umpteenth live version, preferring Blackmore's live versions over Morse's besides. I was all the more surprised then. HS with a sort of relaxed, laid-back two-minute intro!!? you wouldn't believe that such an experiment works, but it really does. very interesting version with fresh ideas (most remarkable: Glover's bass lines), well worth listening to. my favourite track apart from WDG.
7) SOTW live: another umpteenth version. not necessary for us maybe. probably included for the occasional customer who doesn't know any other DP tune. but a bit better than the other versions with Morse that I know.
8) PS live: decent version too, with some good work by Airey.

Well, compare the live songs on the Tour Ed. with Live In Europe '93. Who's the better?
