ROTD cover art
My conclusion: I like it!
My argument: It has everything to do with the theme of the album. It's a good image to reflect upon, and to me it explains the main idea of the album.
My reasoning: What we see is a "Mr Jones" (to talk a bit Dylanesque), a Mr Anyone, who's lost his natural shape. He's been pulled here and pushed there, and looks weird and out of place. Seeing his true reflection would most certainly make him feel bad.
But this guy don't see his true reflection. What he see is a reflection where weird things turn straight, and straight things turn weird. This image lies, but it is how the weird guy want to see himself, and it makes him happy, confused and happy. Not able to catch up with reality, he rather spend his time staring at a false image of himself, an image that shows how he want to see himself.
"Rapture Of The Deep" is not to be taken literally, it's a state of mind, a false and actually dangerous happiness, that may occur in many forms. A simple drawing sums it up. Or at least it may have you take a moment of your time (inside your mind). Give it a thought!

Re: ROTD cover art
Anyway, the layout is rather poor. I like the main idea, and it fits the title well, but the colours and quality of it is rather poor.

Thanks Carramba!
69, I agree about the background colour.
It's a bit daff, or dull, to be more precise. /

Re: ROTD cover art
I actually like it now. The inner sleeve which justs reuses the cover image 100 times is pure sh*t. Totally lacks creativity. I could have done a much better job. Looks like it was thown together 1 hour before going to the printers.

I really love that cover - especially on limited edition.

Exactly. And there was so much fuss about Ioannis and Glover taking time off to work so very hard on the cover and the booklet. Sorry ffolks, bullshit, my 12-year old daughter makes much better stuff on PhotoPaint or Corel.

Re: ROTD cover art
They can't fool me by just zooming in on the same image or making it a mirror image. And why no band shots? Give me a break. That is why I started a topic here a while ago.

I'm not sure if I like the cover or not, it doesn't work very well on the gatefold. However, it reminds me of a Danish writer, Hans Christian Andersen, he wrote this story about the little ugly duckling, that when it looked at its mirrored imaged in the lake, saw a swan. The problem is though, ROTD does not reach those hights that that imagery would call for.
