clearly quite absurd - best purple ballad ever?
I am trying hard to remember all purple ballads and can't see anything better than clearly quite absurd. Maybe except sometimes I feel like screaming, you keep on moving and child in time but these are not typical ballads I guess.
when a blindman cries is a great song when performed live but the album version is not as convincing as CQA.
of course it is all a matter of taste but I am wondering what you think.

Nah, it's not. I even prefer Haunted. It's a nice song, but not as good to claim is the best purple ballad. Don't forget WABMC, Soldier of Fortune, Love Conquers All or Wasted Sunsets. Those are examples of Purple's best ballads.

BUT HAUNTED?? LOVE CONQUERS ALL??? COME ON....
to me it is one of the best ballads definitely

I'm not a ballad fan. I know you'll scream heresy, but hey - that one reminds me Love Conquers All. Haunted was better (especially with the female backing vocals).

actually it is interesting to hear that people love haunted.
i love haunnted too.
but artistically - musically, and in terms of the lyrics clearly quite absurd is clearly better to me
CQA = Love Conquers All - naaah

Okay, I haven't read the lyrics yet. I will do so. But I'm not saying it's equal, only that it reminds me. Anyway, I agree on the silliness of it all - but who am I to believe I'm a serious man?

The lyrics are great. Guess I heard it in the wrong moment. But anyway I don't like ballads. When I was 14 I was a very shy boy with girls and all of that, then I became an angry heavy metal kid and some habits die hard... lol

right, it is silly. I guess I posted it because I felt it is nice to exchange views or share some emotions. some people see something in a song that I do not see and the other way round. It is great fun.

well i also prefer those faster songs, or actually my favorites are thopse mid-tempo songs like sun goes down, nasty piece of work, rapture of the deep, perfect strangers.
i think these songs are dp trademark.
but when they get down to recording a ballad, it is usually a cracker which is hard to be indifferent to
