Re: Remorseless Review of Crapture of the Shallow

So, Remo...

If you acknowledge that HOBL and S&M were, for want of a better word, shite... what does that make Blackmore? He wrote the albums.

I just don't think you like anything!! And you're still ignoring my advice to you. Come on, man... play along a little bit!

No! MKIII would NEVER reunite!! Blackmore don't like funky rock music. Have you heard what music Glenn Hughes are creating these days? Nothing has changed since the seventies, and a MKIII reunion wouldn't last an whole evening....

The Silent Screamer and Prozac Kid have both emphatically stated that they have no intention on performing with a legitimate Deep Purple lineup again. If Ritchie and Jon want to perform together in Deep Purple if only for a few concerts then it would have to be the Mark III lineup. Glenn knows not to interrupt Smoke with Georgia on My Mind this time around.

Guess you haven't heard much live stuff from Glenn recently? He never know when to shut up, and Blackmore would be pissed after a couple of songs wondering "Why the hell did I do this? Again?".

But hey, dream on Remorseless....

Re: Remorseless Review of Crapture of the Shallow

My reading comprehension is fine...here's what you're missing.

You readily admit Blackmore's last several DP records were Ok to lousy. SIUA was no great shakes either.

You steadfastly maintain that if ONLY Blackers would come back and play with some former member of DP (especially Lord) that they could reclaim the honor of the DP name...

What makes you think now would be any different than the last several Blackers rock records? I'd certainly purchase it if it came out, but my expectations would be low...

Much like my expectations for Purpendicualr were when I first purchased it in 99. I had stubbornly refused to buy into any version of Purple that didn't include Blackers. After hearing the crap that was the first BN record...I became increasingly depressed that there would never be anymore Purple music...so out of curiosity/desperation I picked up a copy of Purpendicular with almost no expectaitons at all.

Boy was I wrong...what a great record, fully worthy of ght DP monicker. And of course that's where we'll never see eye to eye. (although you need to add a little bit of tolerance to different opinions to your mix...even a right wing nut like me is more tolerant than you :-))

But expecting some sort of Lord/Blackmore DP project to yield anything but rehashes of SIUA/TBRO is being overly optimistic. Of course I could be surprised and it certainly wouldn't hurt my feeling to admit I'm wrong on that....:-)

As for a one off show...that won't happen until the current band is through...and even then it probably won't happen anyway....as those bridges are blown, burnt and the ashes are scattered to the winds...

Ah come on Star City...

We all know that at any given moment, once the current Deep Purple are over, that Ritchie Blackmore is gonna through away his pixie boots, phone up Jon Lord, Glenn Hughes, David Coverdale and Ian Paice and reform a line up he didn't even like. We know that is how Ritchie works. He loves working with people who have different tastes in music. Shoeshine music... wasn't that the quote!?

Yep, good argument Remo!!

I guess when the current Purple wraps it up, Jon Lord will be pushing eighty. Can anyone picture him doing Speed King at that age, drooling over his Hammond with two nurses standing next to him trying to prevent him from falling, and feeding him medicine to keep him going?

If there should be a reunion, it should be a MKII reunion, and it should be now!!! They're not getting any younger...

If you think that´s what B.B. King(pushing 80) looks like at the moment, I think you should look again.

Ritchie has gone through phases in his career. I was very concerned when Deep Purple finally reunited that he would Rainbowize the band. Fortunately, Perfect Strangers was worthy of Purple’s legacy. Unfortunately, no album since has been worthy of the Deep Purple name.

I have heard Glenn’s recent albums and would be concerned. However, I’m confident though that he knows what would be expected of him.

Blackmore’s backup musicians have tried carrying on without him twice and humiliated themselves both times. Ritchie made the successful transition from commercialized rubbish to classic heavy rock for Perfect Strangers. Being an eternal optimist loved by you Morsified Zombies the world over, I’m certain he could make the successful transition from medieval music back to classic heavy rock.

Politically, I’m right of center and despise right and left wing extremists that are destroying our country. I have zero tolerance towards compromised music be it JLT era Rainbow or the Crazed Crappers

The Silent Screamer can’t perform to standards expected of ‘real’ fans and the Prozac Kid hasn’t had a single creative idea since Ritchie disbanded Purple. The last two Mark II albums were bitter disappointments. It’s Mark III’s time to reunite.

Re: Remorseless Review of Crapture of the Shallow

Im glad your optimistic...but there is NOTHING that would lead any reasonable perosn to conclude any rock recording Blackmore would make wouldn't stink. Other than the fact he's still one hell of a guitarist. Heard one track on Village Lantern, St Theresa, that makes you wish Richie would just go back and play rock music again.

But it ain't happenin. Fortunately the band still cranks out some great music...both live and studio..I think mainly because Blackmore is NOT involved. As a rock songwriter...he really hasn't had more than one or 2 truly original musical ideas on any album since HOBL.

Of course you are happy with a half decent HM band Feinstein cranking through some cliched Heavy metal over Purple... and you question my status as a real fan.

I'm just sorry you can't appreciate a fine record like ROTD or Purpendicular.
