DLG is just fabulous... some great playing going on here. And MTV is another one...and well ALL OF 'EM really with possibly the exeption of girls like that.

I still say it's all about the overall sound on this album.
It just all blends so well for the first time in a long time.
Thats what people should be able to do,is recognise them through it sounding like a band that has gotten it together.
"Don't Let Go" may sound a bit cheesey to some,but it's a fairly consious work of art in my opinion.
Not much need for trad Purple in this song,and no room for that either.
This is smoking hot contemporary blues,in the same vein as Clapton,SRV,Robert Cray,and most notebly Jeff Healey.
It could have come a little out of recording with JH,I'm guessing thats where it started,or not......

couldn't agree more
some people will say it is too early, but I have listened to the album more than 30 times and I can say it is as good as Perfect Strangers
Actually I like it more than Perfect Strangers but I am trying to cool my head as it is only 30 listens.
I agree that there is no weak song on the album. Even girls like that is better than some of the best songs on previous albums.
it has real gems, real classics.
but more importantly the quality of instrumental parts and the lyrics is just breathtaking
listen to the solos in junkyard blues, rotd, or don't let go. listen to the bass rhythm in before time began. listen to the gentle sound of steve's guitar in clearly quite absurd.
finally before time began as a whole just blew me away. one of the best purple tracks ever.

Don't let Go it's great, has a vibe I've never heard before on a Purple song. Steve's riff it's so good, and Paicy's groove here makes me wanna dance. Don crowns it all with a nice electric piano solo, it reminds me the one on Maybe Im a Leo. Such a great song, no doubt about it!!

I've had ppl who thought the previous efforts with Morse where a little lacking, but with ROTD they have changed their tune (excuse the pun).
They think this album is fantastic. I cant wait to buy the CD. I will have to buy the normal and limited edition versions in order to have all the tracks. I'll probably buy the Jap version to just to hear Things I Never Said.
