Re: some more reviews
Yeah, like this review titled 'Musical Drivel':
"This album is lifeless without Jon Lord and, of course, Ritchie Blackmore. A hard core Depp Purple fan, I was nauseated by this collection of doldrum. Weak vocals from the usually incredible Ian Gillan and guitar riffs from second grade. Steve Morse cannot carry a tune let alone Blackmore's jock. As hard as he must be to work with, I sincerely hope that Purple retire rather than produce another sham like this without Blackmore."

I love that this rough review for ROTD was written by an intellectual toddler.

Because he/she claims to be a hard core DP fan?

Re: some more reviews
Oh god - now not only do we a controversy of what a true DP fan is - but what is a hard core DP fan? Is that more than a true DP fan? Can a true DP fan be someone who only likes Mach I or Mach VIII exclusively? Is a hard core fan someone who only likes the MAN IN BLACK?

I guess a hard core fan doesn't take anything for DP (unlike the fans who speak of DP being bigger than the sum of its parts, meaning as long as it is called DP it passes for one, no questions asked)?
Of course, you can't argue Mk1 weren't DP. Well, you can but it would be silly. The other Mks, the 2nd one included, are subject to debate: do they meet the requirements? The requirements are of course individually defined.

Re: some more reviews
I went to a Xmas party the other night and met someone who said he was a huge Purple fan. But his collection only consisted of In Rock, Fireball, MH, WDWTWA & MIJ. He also saw them live twice in 1973. Madison, Wisconsin on May 9th and Chicago, Illinois on June 5th. He thought both shows were great, but the Chicago concert was even better than MIJ, which he already owned before both shows. Anyway, in the summer of '73 he got married and got lost in the big business game and music simply disappeared from his life. He didn’t even know about the reuniting in 1984. I had a a great time filling him in on the DP history. By the end of the night he had a list of DP albums he was going to buy, now that he has more free time these days. Burn, Perfect Strangers, Purpendicular and Rapture of the Deep are now on his "to buy" list. I’m glad that we got a chance to meet so that the normally boring Xmas party went quickly.
Even though this guy only had 1970/1973 DP, that still makes him a fan. Right!

Sure...mkIII and VI...I'm from the same camp at that time,as all of(them)you? are about anything post 90's post Blackmore post Lord Purple.
And still feel this way, never saw it as a proper name carrier.
So go figure...
