It's just fun phantasy and imagination, I think.

All it was meant to be, Ingrid. Glad to see at least someone took it in that vein.

RitchiesString + Johnny - As I said, it was all idle, useless speculation, meant to be interpreteted as a bit of fun. Take it in that vein. I'm certainly not passing judgement on the album based merely on it's title or some track titles which may even not even be on that album by the time it's purchasable. If that was the case, then I never would've purchased "Bananas". emoticon (Which I like, by the way)

i'm glad to hear that.
too much negativity on this forum. we know that Jon Lord reads it. the others might too. i don't want people and the band to think we all hate them and wish we lived in 1972. Otherwise we'd have the machine head tour in 2005 like they did in the states last year.

Well, I certainly wouldn´t leave early if the 2006 tour would entirely consist of songs from Bananas, Rapture Of The Deep and one or two from Purpendicular with Smoke, BN and HS as encores.

You got an interesting point here.

First of all, I'd like to state that personally it never made and makes me feel great while being critical in a negative way.

But it does happen - like speculations about having another guitarist, critics on IG's state of voice, jokes about Steves "widdle" factor etc.
People, with different likings and different point of views shed their thoughts in here, because this a forum and human.
Despite the fact that single band members should read some of that here from time to time, I do hope they don't take it too personal, nor being highly disappointed.
In a way, it's also a chance for them to read peoples minds.
I think it shouldn't make anyone of us feel uncomfortable, if he/she feels to do some criticism (as long it ain't overly harsh nor full of intended puns)
Wishes, individual proposals for possibly
improvements will always be there.

Because in the end, as far as I can talk for myself, I'm still happy and grateful that they are still around the way they are, no matter in what shape or line-up.

1. Agree, no need for pointless criticism. But as fans we are all entitled to our own opinions, and these forums wouldn't be much fun if everyone praised halleluhjah over their fave album all the time.

2. Right, 'cos Ian Gillan's voice IS up and down, Steve Morse DO widdle, some would say a lot, and what fans were we if nobody had a critical ear? Since when did a Purple fan buy music blind from the top of the hitlists?

3. If they do that's actually their problem (one I'm certain they haven't, btw). When I say I think Deep Purple is by far the most interesting and inspirering band I've ever heard, I hope they don't put too much into that either (again I'm sure they don't). It's only my opinion anyway. And I like to be honest about what I like or not.

4. In their shoes, I would be interested, to some degree at least.

5. I don't think anyone in the band ever get the chance to use anything we say against us. But again, even superstars are only humans too, and there's no reason to throw !@#$ at anyone just for killing time.

6. It's a major part of the fun!

7. Me too!!! As I've said many times, I take Morse' widdle over a non-excisting Deep Purple any day! And his non-widdle all night! emoticon

I agree with the main idea behind this post. There is no value in being critical and negative just for the sake of it. Life is too short.

But.....

If anyone connected with the band and with some sort of influence had read this forum and said "Hey, they really don't like those white pyjamas, mate!" AND HE HAD STOPPED WEARING THEM then I would have been a very happy bunny!!

BTW Did I ever tell you how much I loathed those white pyjama things? emoticon

"Wrong Man"?

They have written about a few in their time.

First they considered the "Speed King". This type is ubiquitous, and OK-ish in the first flush of youth. But let's be honest guys, it is nothing to brag about, is it? emoticon

Then there is the technical expert, who knows where everything is, is usually very thorough, but is about as exciting as a darned sock! emoticon.

No wonder this type is known as "Ted" [or Ron or Bob or Fred] "The Mechanic". emoticon

But the really interesting more modern one is the wannabe Tantric Guru-type: 7 3/4 hours of extensive, extended, exhausting activities, and about the only thing you can guarantee is "No One Came"! emoticon

Of course they read it, and why do you think Glover didn't post even ONE studio report from the recording of ROTD?? I've heard they were a bit upset about what internet does (in general) to the mutual relations between the band and the fans.
