Some of the new song titles - on ROTD

Found this at http://www.the-aviator.de/

"Roger Glover: "Rapture of the Deep should be released later this year, probably October. Titles include "Rapture of the Deep", "Girls Like That", "Wrong man", "Junkyard Blue" and "Back to Back". Ian Gillan is in Los Angeles at the moment, finishing up some of the vocals."

That´s 5 out of 12 song titles and they sound pretty weird.

Not only did Jon bequeath the group his Hammond but it looks like he might have left them David Coverdale's Book of Rejected Song Titles that he took with him when he left Whitesnake. emoticon

What bugs me the most is Girls Like That. It really sounds heavily Coverdaleish. Wrong Man has a bit of a blues touch to it. Junkyard Blue sounds bit trashy, Back To Back and Rapture Of The Deep are the only two I´d seriously like.

But hell, maybe the songs are better than their titles. What did I think again when I read "Flight Of The Rat" on the tracklist of In Rock?!

Depends on how you read it:
a) girls prefer/enjoy that
b) girls who are like that

Yeah, you mean b) would be less Coverdale-like?

Okay, I figure it's just a matter of time, so here goes:

"Rapture of the Deep" - Gillan + Glover's long lost theme song to the Peter Benchley written film that starred Nick Nolte + Jaqueline Bissett.

"Girls Like That" - The problems inherent with having a wife/girlfriend or mother-in-law managing your business affairs. emoticon

"Wrong Man" - Gillan and/or Glover are up late watching old movies and the Henry Fonda classic comes on...or it's admittance to Randy that perhaps a more 'metal/rocker guitarist would've been a better choice back in 1994; sort of Gillan's "Smooth Dancer" to Steve Morse? emoticon

"Junkyard Blue" - A description of the miasmic haze that gets illuminated by the rising + setting of the sun over some junkyard?

"Back to Back" - Hmmm...A little story about how the last 2 studio album titles seem to have a portion of the Deep Purple fanbase walking around with this look -emoticon - on their faces? Or a song about how this lineup has managed to stay together long enough to record 2 studio albums consecutively? Or the positions that Blackmore + Gillan will assume prior to taking 10 paces each, then turning and firing?

 emoticon / emoticon

Don't you just have a dirty mind? How do you know what Gillan intends?

a) girls who like bowling, stamp collecting, whatever
b) girls who are annoying, romantic, political, whatever

Let's wait till we can read the whole lyrics.
