Dio, October 8th, Detroit.

I'll start by saying. WOW!

This show was incredible, the band was really impressive and like always Dio was in great form.

Dio didnt get on stage untill about 10:30, I couldnt wait for him to hit the stage because I had to sit and listen to Anthrax who were just god awful.

The lights went black and the familiar intro of Killing The Dragon started and then the band blasted right into One More For The Road from the new album.

Sign Of The Southern Cross/Stargazer was next...both incomplete although Stargazer was almost the complete version. I was very impressed with Stargazer as Craig Goldy totally nailed it, solo and all.

Stand Up and Shout was next, the crowd was really into this one, Simon Wright's drum solo followed Stand Up and Shout, Simon always has very entertaining drum solo's and his 1812 solo tribute to Cozy Powell was also great.

Now I'll speed the review along by talking about the remaining highlights of the show. Gates Of Babylon was truly incredible, maybe the best part of the entire show and just like Stargazer Goldy played the song perfectly including the solo!!

Another highlight of the show was Heaven and Hell, this is a GREAT live song. During Heaven and Hell some Jack Ass threw a cup of beer at Craig Goldy. The look on his face was scary, he was pissed..yelling and screaming into the crowd, That seemed to make him angry for the rest of the show, he also seemed a little uneasy to come to the edge of the stage because of that one jack ass who threw the beer emoticon

The encores were Rainbow in the Dark, Last In Line and We Rock. A truly great show and Dio got off the stage shortly after 12 playing for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

BUT I'll save the best part for last

We decided to wait after the show in hopes of getting some autographs, well we waited over 2 hours and then out came some of the band..Rudy Sarzo was first, he didnt say much but he had no problem signing my Master Of The Moon CD cover. Next was Scott Warren but I let him continue right on. Simon Wright was next, a really nice guy who talked to me for a minute and also signed my Master Of The Moon Cover. Next was Craig Goldy who was in much better spirts then before, Smiling, joking and having long talks with everyone, He was talking about why he like to play the Rainbow and Sabbath songs note for note including solos, he said it's so that people can see that he's for real and can play the guitar. And of course he signed My CD cover as well.

Well we waited about 10 more minutes and finally out came Ronnie! He signed anything and everything for everyone. I was one of the Last in Line but when he got to me, he was still happy, He asked what my name was and then signed my CD cover of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Master Of The Moon. He signed it as "Rod" my name is Brad, so I told him it was brad and he says"Oh I can fix that" and he turned Rod into Brad And said "sometimes I amaze myself" he continued to joke with me for a minute. Then I had my picture taken with him. I could not beleive how nice this guy is. I have a new respect for everyone in Dio, especially the man himself.

Looks like a pretty cool setlist. I didn't get to see the tour, but it's too bad he's not playing more than two cuts from Master of the Moon. I think it's a really good CD, although I appear to be in the minority.
