Well, think about what happened on his last tour, ever, with the band in '93! They were just as good as in the early seventies, thanks to Blackmore's energylevel during the tour. It seemed like he was trying to outplay the rest of the band, and that made the whole band a lot better. Even then his mind was with, what was to become, the "new" reunited Rainbow.
If Blackmore wants to, he can do!!!

I don't agree with you. I saw them at the notorious Rotterdam gig and he screwed it up completely.

DP or Rainbow? I have the bootleg of Rainbow in Rotterdam called 'European Nights' (or days) - it's one of my favorites...

Re: Mark III The Final Concerts
DP in Rotterdam Ahoy', with Blackmore irritating and annoying Gillan while people paid to see a good, professional band. This was very shortly before he walked out for the final time. It was embarrassing.

While Blackmore's playing was - in most cases - excellent during his two 'final tours' (in '75 & '93) as DP's guitarist, the difference in circumstance(s) surrounding his decision to quit DP & how and when his decision to leave DP was rendered to the rest of his bandmates at each particular junction in DP history is still pronounced...seems he handled an 'amicable' & 'cantankerous' departure with equal displays of stunning guitar virtuosity.

There were a few shows that weren't good because of the ongoings between Blackmore and Gillan, but for the most part they were stunning during the tour. Sorry you did catch them on a bad day. I saw them on their second to last gig, and I still rate that gig as the best I've ever been to.

I can't really agree with that; I agree that his playing was (on the good nights) excellent in 93, but 75 was I think his lowest tour in that period, he was much more inspired on the Burn Tour or on the first Rainbow tours after...

I agree too. I think, while the stormbringer tour did show us the direction Blackmore would go in (mistreated, the gypsi, etc.) his playing was less inpsired than in the burn tour. One listen to his amazing intros on mistreated, and/or his solos in lay down stay down and space trucking is proof enough.
With Rainbow, Blackmore peaked in the direction he was going in the final days of Purple.

Re: Mark III The Final Concerts
But dont get me wrong, Live in paris 75 is stil l one of the best RB live albums out there (and his solo in YFNO on made in europe, the first one, is still one my faves), but I wouldent put it up againts, for example, stockholm 70, germany 76 (rainbow), or stuttgart 93, my personal top 3 (followed very closely by london 74 and in concert 70-72).
