Black Purple In Barn...
Well, yesterday I accompanied my friends from my local Deep Purple tribute band to their gig in "Somewhereinthemiddleofnowhere".
It was as a part of a bikermeeting in a barn on the countryside of somewhere in eastern bavaria.
They actually played next to cows and sheeps but all that would be well worth another story(not to forget about the bikers...)
Anyway, for the gig itself...
It was the seventh time I´ve seen them, and I can seriously say that I´ve rarely seen them perform better(if ever).
For the conditions they played under(almost nowone was really interested in their performance, they played only support anyway but still there was close to no applause after most of the songs!) they made the best out of it...no they played really on highest quality and took the very best out of themselves. The soundmix was good and the lights were just great.
Shame that there was no really hot crowd, because that would have probably made for the best DP gig not by DP I´ve ever been to.
Anyway, personal highlights for me were the guitar solos on Child In Time and Mistreated and Hush with it´s extended drumsolo and everything. Burn was a killer!
Many things seemed very spontanous and most of them actually were. The mood seemed to be somewhere between laid back and highly concentrated(sounds strange but I can´t find a more accurate way to describe it).
Difficult To Cure was played with highest precision and the small rock classic shuffle before Smoke On The Water was very good fun!
I don´t want to go into the details, the setlist speaks for itself I think...
Anyway, I took a lot of photos of which you´ll probably seem a few later, and I also made a DAT-recording over the soundboard, so in about one week it will probably be avaiable on a double CD so who of you guys is interested, just write me and I´ll send you a recording of yesterdays gig.

A comment on Black Purple!
(Review will have to wait a while...)
Different from the internet clips, this whole show offered a great impression of tribute act Black Purple. If I'm anytime close to their gig, I'll go!
In a way there's something strange about this. First of all the musicians are very good, beyond any doubts. And they play the purple songs very truthfully, yet lively, and very well. Still it does not at all sound like Deep Purple. The difference is a bit amazing, it's very hard to point it out, but this is a totally different band. For some not so odd reason it still sound great though. A hard working band of talented musicians playing purple songs, of course it sounds good!
Only sad thing was the lack of response from the audience. Terrible!
Milan, thanks again for the cd's! Tell your friends their great gig is highly appreciated!

Rahul also said he loved it, I just chatted with him about it.
I love the way they have their own style, that´s what makes them exciting, still they pay excellent tribute to the band we all known and love.
Yeah, the lack of audience was horrible, they were extremely grateful that at least I was there and highly enjoyed it. Otherwise it would´ve made for a killer gig!
Glad you like it! I´m sure they love to hear that their music is regared in norway, england and switzerland as well...
