Re: Favorite live version of "Mistreated"
Mine is the one from WS's live at Donnington video, because of: Jons piano Intro,Davids screaming and the Soldier Of Fortune part in it.

Re: Favorite live version of "Mistreated"
I voted for the Made in Europe version. The first version I ever heard and still my fave!
However, after seeing Glenn perform it last year, he dispelled the notion I had that the song was only suited for David's vocals.
Any Purple fan, Glenn's detractors or otherwise, would have been on their feet after Hughes' performance of Mistreated in Newcastle. Vocals that good have to be seen to be believed.

You mean 'heard', or is his stage antics a major part of the performance? (or is a boot worth hunting down?)

Re: Favorite live version of "Mistreated"
I 've always thought that the duo vocal ending didn't work Live, but that Blackmore's intro and solo were amazing.
For the moment I'm very much into the Perks and Tit version but I always loved the Cal Jam version.
The worst would be any version sung by Dio or played by the Moody/Marsden duo.
It is definitly a Blackermore?coverdale song that requires both antagonists.

No way! The best Mistreated I've heard is by Rainbow in the Starstruck '78 boot. Whitesnake's version ain't bad either IMO.

Dougie did a cracking version of the tune too, my favourite take of it (from the late Rainbow era) is on the Waltzing With Ritchie boot, Blackmore in particular is fantastic on that one.

Re: Favorite live version of "Mistreated"
On Stage. Rainbow brought it to a new level with great playing by everyone and RJD's great vocal. It's a little faster, but also heavier. I like Tony Careys keys on this more than JL's and Powell really makes a difference here.

No, seen. It's great to hear them on a boot, but you can't beat the live experience. Watching Glenn let rip with his screams is incredible. Where he gets that power from, I have no idea. I used to like him when I heard his records, but it wasn't till I saw him live that I realised he is actually the greatest rock singer around today. In my experience at least.
