Big J and IanN...I know you haven't got your CD's yet and was talking to Vladi about that earlier. He decided to wait for the posters and certs afterall which arrived this morning, so he will definitely be sending the lot out to you tomorrow morning. I hope this doesn't make you too disappointed. But at least Nico and Dave have given you an idea of what to expect. Apologies again for the slight delay.

Not disappointed, just a bit frustrated after reading the good reviews

Builds up the anticipation though, definitely!

No, I'm quite happy to wait for mine - there's no point incurring double postage (one for the CD, the other for the extras) and reducing your already limited profits.

I'm really pleased it's been so well received.

Only seen this tonight - been working away all week. I'm in complete agreement with J: happy to wait, and really looking forwards to it.
Thanks for taking the trouble to let us know what's happening - I really appreciate that.

No worries guys. Let me know when the album finally arrives though okay?

Niko & Nighthawk, would you have any objections to me posting those reviews on the band's website?

Re: Celtic Legacy - Resurrection (a review)

I received my copy yesterday emoticon

I've only had 1½ listens so far - first listen with constant interruptions from assorted children, and half a listen (up to Resurrection) in the car this morning - but first impressions are very good. Celtic Legacy obviously have a real "find" with Mark Guildea. The vocals on the first CD were the only obvious weak point in the band, and Mark's addition has given them a singer that invites comparison with Dickinson, Halford, Tate et al.

As I paid up-front some months back, I have received the "Special Edition", complete with signed certificate, personal letter, signed poster and bonus disc (with demos, remixes, etc). The packaging is superb and puts many record company releases to shame. Well done guys. The bonus disc is also a pleasant surprise - the quality of the tracks dismissing the "demo" tag with some panache.

A fuller review will appear once I can banish the weans for an hour or two! emoticon

Re: Celtic Legacy - Resurrection (a review)

Mine arrived during the week while I was away (again). My wife didn't tell me I had post when I got back last night and instead gave it to me this morning, my birthday, along with my cards and presents, which was nice.

I can only echo J's comments re the packaging and presentation: everything about it is absolutely superb.

And now for the best bit. I've had a brilliant day, and the family have gone to bed. I've poured myself a glass of whisky, the headphones are plugged in and ready and I'm savouring the moment. I've REALLY been looking forwards to this..

Re: Celtic Legacy - Resurrection (a review)

Celtic Legacy - Resurrection

The crashing of thunder leads into the atmospheric keyboards of opener The Fallen. A plaintive celtic melody line brings the track to a close, before a fast riff ushers in Live By The Sword. Spiralling twin guitars lines appear, and then Mark Guildea makes his presence felt. It's immediately apparent that the vocals have improved dramatically from the first album. Guildea is in the same mould as Dickinson and Tate, but with a warmth to his voice that's often lacking in "power metal" vocalists. A real find. Live By The Sword has a great chorus and is a song that would go down really well in a live environment.

Guardian Angel is another fast rocker, with some great melody guitars.

Acoustic guitars signal the start of Resurrection which builds from a deceptively simple opener to a truly epic song, with some outstanding vocals from Mark.

Children Of The Sky is a very Maiden-esque rocker, but the celtic-themed guitar parts at the end give it a unique Celtic Legacy twist.

With a great bass intro by Dave Boylan and a clever time-change in the middle, Timeless has real potential to bring Celtic Legacy to a much wider audience.

The cunningly titled Sloidephuch Doin is a well-constructed, powerful instrumental with some excellent guitars.

A remake of one of the debut album tracks, Shine benefits from Mark's singing and is generally a lot tighter than the original.

Always The Hero is a really powerful rocker in the Lizzy mould, with some more of those classic twin guitar lines.

Another long epic, Emania - Shadows Of Moonlight has an awesomely heavy riff and some terrific vocals. The slow mid-section gives Mark a chance to show his diversity.

When A Stranger Comes winds the album down nicely, a power ballad with some great lead guitar work.

So, all in all, an excellent follow-up to the debut album. Celtic Legacy know their strengths, but don't overplay them. It would have been easy to make an album consisting entirely of celtic-tinged rockers, but to their credit they've not gone for that approach, producing instead a strong, diverse album to rival any recent "major" rock release.

Looking forward to the next album - hope there's not such a big gap!

Re: Celtic Legacy - Resurrection (a review)

It seems that this forum is full of great musicians.
First I was very surprised by the quality of Celtic Legacy, Resurrection is worth more than what I paid for it.
Then I got my hands on purpletemple's band's record. The band is called The Temple and the record is named Agalma.
Very different in style than CL, but the quality is here too.
I haven't finished my first listening, but so far the impact is similar than whan Resurrection did.
