Re: Dream Theater, at the Orpheum Theater, Boston, 4/1/04 review

I did not miss Pull me under very much, actually I was totally happy that they played Metropolis Pt-1. I just thought Pull me under is DTs Smoke on the Water: not at all their best song, but by far their most famous one. That's why I expected them to play it.

By the way, if we are just speaking about Smoke; I always read the quote some DP-members that they have to play Smoke at every concert, because otherwise the audience would kill them. Well, I wouldn't, because the song doesn't mean anything to me. On the other hand, I like Steves usual Riff-Mix-Intro a lot.
Would you jump on the stage and slaughter them If they didn't play SOTW?

Maybe I should have asked this question on the Purple-Discussions-Forum....

But what happens is this...if they mix it up, people complain they don't hear they favorite song. If they do the safe setlist (ala DP) people complain they always hear the same songs. It's a no-win situation. Personally, I'm glad Dream Theater does what they do, it gives me a chance to hear lots of different material from them.

Well, I hope to make a DT show next year. The thing is that this would be my first one and I´d love to hear songs like Pull Me Under, Metropolis Part 1, Learning To Live, A Mind Beside Itself, A Change Of Seasons, Trial Of Tears and Home live. But the chances are very low, if they play a different set, every night. Even if I´ll probably see them a couple of times more from then on.
