Yngwie / Blackmore / Hendrix
Anyone notice how Yngwie always thanks Hendrix and never Blackmore in his inserts. Yet he plays more Purple and Rainbow Live than Hendrix material. He also played with 3 different singers after they sang for Ritchie.
Just wondering if anyone has any comments on the subject. ( why Yngwie would avoid thanking Blackmore when it is so obvious he idolizes him )

Que?
Yngwie frequently mentions both Hendrix and Blackmore on his album inserts. Just checked a couple (Odyssey and Facing The Animal) and they're both there, together with all the other regulars (Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, HP Lovecraft, ect).

Re: Yngwie / Blackmore / Hendrix
Ah a coincidence, it just so happens I was recently looking at 2002 Attack's thank you's and it's opened right in front of me here....Yup Blackmore is thanked right after Hendrix and before Brian May. Is the poster talking about the new album?

Actually you're right but only for the early albums (probably because Yngwie was really pissed off everybody called him a Ritchie clone ). He has since got over it and TMIB's name is pretty much on every thanks list since Odyssey.

Re: Yngwie / Blackmore / Hendrix
malmsteen first always talked about blackmore (he even told he dressed and acted like blackmore and went to school like that).
then everybody started calling him a blackmore clone, so he started rebelling against that, sometimes disrespecting blackmore even....saying blackmore only played pentatonic scales and never harmonic minor untill mr malmsteen appeared, WHICH IS A LIE.
anyone who listens to rainbow albums and is a musician knows they are filled with the harmonic minor AND 3 to 6 string arpeggios, especially live....blackmore even did those stuff in the late 60s live during wring that neck.
the faces that he pulled in the 80s were blackmore faces, the clothes were blackmore clothes, certain poses and turning the guitar over on the knee and scratching it are blackmore etc....but then the public opinion made him change that and now he wears 3 rolex-s on each pulse and looks like a drag queen on coke
he does give blackmore credit still but he is very carefull not to be painted down as a clone....but to a certain extent he is.
the music style isnt, but almost the rest is.

Re: Yngwie / Blackmore / Hendrix
I was mistaken about Odyssey. I thought he failed to thank Blackmore on that one. However i have Eclipse from 1990 and he doesn't on it. It also seems I must have read most of the interviews from the time period when he was avoiding Blackmore comments cause thats what i seem to have seen a lot of. A time where he mentions Hendrix and not Blackmore.

Re: Yngwie / Blackmore / Hendrix
The album "Inspiration" has 10 songs total, 5 of which are Blackmore tunes (Pictures of Home, Gates of Babylon, Mistreated, Demons Eye and Child in Time).
Also includes one Hendrix (Manic Depresion) and one Uli Roth (Sail of Charon)song.
In the "special thanks" section, he doesn't thank Blackmore, but does thank Hendrix and Roth. Go figure.
My favourite track from this album is "In The Dead of Night".

Re: Yngwie / Blackmore / Hendrix
Widdlevie should be thanking Blackmore if only for the vocalists that have been sent his way. Particularly Graham Bonnet, who gave him his start to begin with.

Re: Yngwie / Blackmore / Hendrix
I bet Yngwie's having wet dreams about Candice! Only I odn't think he's ever gonna get this Blackmore vocalist...As Ritchie somehow looks better being 60 then Malmsteen at 40 (I don't know the exact age).

Re: Yngwie / Blackmore / Hendrix
In this thread there are two great guitarists, Blackmore and Hendrix, and one wannabe Widdlewie Sucksteen.
Actually I like Widdlewie...I just like to pick on him. But he ain't in RB or JH's league IMHO.
