Jakson "Thunderfoot" Spires passes away.
BLACKFOOT drummer Jakson Spires passed away this morning from a brain aneurysm in Ft Pierce, Florida
Spires, founding member of BLACKFOOT, wrote or co-wrote nearly every BLACKFOOT song recorded from 1969 until 1986, including two of the band's biggest hits, "Highway Song" and "Fly Away". Between the years when the band separated and now, he has had several projects such as DRIVIN' SIDEWAYS, THE CONQUEROOTS and SOUTHERN ROCK ALLSTARS.
In addition to performing in America and Europe, he recorded numerous sessions with legends such as Benny Mardones, Phil Lynott of THIN LIZZY and blues greats Willie Dixon and Albert King, just to name a few. Jakson, also known as "Thunderfoot", ignited crowds with his powerhouse drumming and creative style.
--------------------------------------------
I just met him on 2/26 when I saw Blackfoot. I caught his drumstick and he signed it for me after the show. This is most depressing.

Re: Jakson "Thunderfoot" Spires passes away.
Shocking, depressing news.
Jakson was a great drummer for a great little band - Blackfoot, one of the most underrated rock units in history.
My sincerest condolences to Jakson's family + friends. He'll be greatly missed.

Okay, too bad. I think I have it on VHS from the now defunct (?) Dutch private seller Cushty Videos, a pity since he had tons of Purple related stuff.

No. Hensley does appear on the "King Biscuit Flower Hour Live in Los Angeles" album, though. It was isuued around 1997/98/99, I believe.
