Has nothing particular to do with CL. I am against bonus material. Period. I don´t make an exception for CL/DP/JL/RB/BN or whoever. When they sell out and produce "bonus" material, they sell out.
Exception: Release the bonus material, and give away copies to the selected few, but release it for public consumption.

Re: Celtic Legacy new album updates
What is this 'sell out' crap?
Please explain where you're coming from on this. How exactly are we 'selling out' by repaying hardcore CL fans with some special recordings???????
It's a bit early/rich to start accusing us of selling out and those who know me and this band would tell you that you're waaaaaaaay out of order and totally wrong here!

I have no more to add, I have my opinions, my feelings and my ethics. I have had one "warning" because I said my opinion, I don´t care to continue. But remember one thing, these tracks will end up as bait to sell a remastered/redited/remixed version of your music. Sell out.

Re: Celtic Legacy new album updates
Fair enough if that's you're opinion. But like I said, you obviously don't know much about CL OR me or you wouldn't be accusing me of a sell out.
Tell you what, we'll change our style of music 180 degrees to aim specifically at the American FM market and completely alienate our existing fan base just to sell a few albums more. THAT'S selling out...not trying to give genuine fans a little something extra for their support.

Re: Celtic Legacy new album updates
mr snip,
while i acccept your views on bonus material, which is fair enough, can i bring your attn to the re-releases of the ac/dc back catalogue.
on the actual discs themselves there is no bonus material, although it talks about acces to stuff on their website.
not exactly handy for those without access to a computer.
all they have done is re-packaged.
at least with the judas priest stuff you got bonus tracks on their re-issues.
now surely, be it celtic legacy, or anyone else, genuine fans will look to get more for their money.
look at the new priest album with the bonus dvd, a concept that has been used by various bands now, most notebly metallica on their last album to get the fans to buy albums straight away.
this hass better than putting a product out then adding stuff afterwards.
oh and for the record, i love celtic legacy and their work and dave is a damn fine chap.
i for one am looking forward to the third level.
his hospitality and generosity is second to none as a few of us on here can testify.

No warning from me, mate.
I just think it is possible to express one's opinion in a more polite and hospitable way, if indeed you feel the opinion is worth expressing.

Oh? I would at least expect you to hand out a yellow card on this one!

I third that Dave. He's got a heart of gold & he just wants to thank the fans who've supported him & encouraged him to keep up the good work.

Depends on your definition of bonus material, and then on the motives behind releasing it.
If a record label finds a couple of "new" tracks by an established artist - probably stuff that wasn't good enough to be on the album in the first place, or a live recording that hasn't appeared on any official live album - and then adds that to a load of stuff that people have already got and release it as a bonus/new/rarity, then I completely agree with you, as I usually have done in the past.
However, I think that you've possibly misunderstood what Celtic Legacy are doing if you lump them in the above category.
All Celtic Legacy are doing is offering an extra to people who commit to the cause by ordering upfront. And lets face it, that extra consists of material which would never make it as a commercial release in its own right. And who's to say that if its well received it wouldn't be included in future pressings anyway, assuming the album takes off?

The "problem" is that there will exist limited versions of music. Those limited versions will (hopefully for CL) create demand. If they (CL) then get established, and lose control those tracks will (with 90% probability) be used as bait.
I bought Glory Road on the day of release, only to find out later, that I was not a Gillan fan, since I was not allowed to get a copy of For Gillan Fans Only. Same tracks later used as bait to sell the remaster.
There are many ways of thanking the supporting people, but I believe music should be public available, and not made for limited circles.
