Re: Uriah Heep
Raging Silence took a while to grow on me but I do like it quiet a bit now.
Firefly is my favorite Uriah Heep. It keeps growing on me over the years.
There was one recording I hated but am starting to like on some strange level.
It has the "And all God's children" choris in it.
Sea of Light is also worth while amongst their newer stuff.

Re: Uriah Heep
Heep was never the same after Byron left. Of course they are not Uriah heep without the great Ken Hensley, but my favorite albums were always with Byron..
Look at Yourself
Sweet Freedom
Magicians Birthday
and ofcourse
"Demons and Wizards"

Re: Uriah Heep
I agree that Uriah's star is a bit dimmer with out Ken however; however, they still rock in concert. And are still better then 95% of all other bands. Raging Silence is also great if you give it a chance Perhaps I should start a new thread on this.
Just like non Schenker UFO needs to be given a chance.
This is non-Purple but Purpendicular by DP was a bold step in a new direction.
Sometimes you have to "Give the Kid A Chance" which is a fine You Call that Art? song.
You Call That Art? are a young band I caught opening for Quiot Riot. They just opened the local Ft. Collins show.
Back to Uriah. I would not recommend anyone start out with Salisbury. People who like it tend to love it. And perhaps I did not give the kid a chance. I turned it in for another CD. Just never got into it.
My favorite Heap list goes like this.
Live in 73 cuz it was my first introduction and if you want an edrenaline rush and can find it. . . .
Fire Fly
Sweet Freedom
Sea of Light
Ragin Silence
Don't have Deamons or Wizards or Magician's Birthday or they may have listed. I've got most of my Heep at pawn shops and have never seen these to pick up.

Funny that you miss 2 of Heep's best records!

Re: Uriah Heep
The Heep are still one of my favorite bands of the 70's. The 80's were something of a drag without Ken Hensley. The modern day band (which has been together for 18 years) has it's moments but I still prefer the Byron and Lawton years. The 73 Live album is a must have.

Re: Uriah Heep
I saw in fact Uriah Heep this week. It was
a very good performance mr Box (the only original) was great to see. The singer was a kind of Mick Jagger. About the music I have to say that I didn't listen on them when I should. During the 70:ies. But I have understood now that they have had a very big
influencs to the development of heavy metal.

Re: Uriah Heep
The new record "Chaos & color" is an absolute cracker of an album. What an incredible band. To celebrate them, here's how I rate their catalogue:
Demons and wizards
Sweet freedom
Magician's birthday
Look at yourself
Salisbury
Return to fantasy
Wonderworld
Firefly
Very 'eavy very 'umble
Abominog
Chaos & color
Living the dream
Wake the sleeper
Sea of light
Innocent victim
Into the wild
Outsider
Fallen angel
Sonic origami
Head first
Raging silence
Conquest
Equator
High and mighty
Different world
