Wow what a great name for a band and an even better LP title. I would like to know what it sounds like and what style of music it is.

If you like Blackmore's Night (the songs, not just the guitar solos) then you should like Renaissance and Lindisfarne too
There were also three Fairport Convention albums which I´ve already heard, in the collection. I assume they´re comparable as well?

Re: My inherited Record Collection
They're all similar British folk-based rock... and when I say similar of course I mean similar in the way that Uriah Heep and Deep Purple are similar, i.e. not at all similar but it's convenient to put them in the same bucket

Re: My inherited Record Collection
Lindisfarne played their last ever gig on Saturday here in their home town of Newcastle. Completely sold out. By all accounts, it was a blinder. Enjoy the album!

Their last gig? You're kidding? I didn't know that! I thought they would just go on as they have for the last 10 years... not noticably "together" but doing the odd gig when they feel like it.

Re: My inherited Record Collection
Unfortunately not. They announced the tour as just another tour I think. But then they decided to make their last date the final show ever. I think they just said it was time to call it a day. Mustn't have been an easy decision. As soon as they announced it was their last ever date, it caused a bit of a local media frenzy. I think Tyne Tees were there. And The Chronicle.

Re: My inherited Record Collection
Short Reviews (Part one)
Lindisfarne - Digly Dell
Very, very good folk based rock(but not too much diggin into the folk niche). Drums are unusally dominant, but that´s good. Very enjoyable music. All songs seem to be very short, even if those who are 6 or 7 minutes long.
Renaissance - Prologue
More Piano based Progressive Rock, to me. Female vocals, which are okay to quite good most of the time and a little psychedelia here and there, really not bad. I´ve quite enjoyed the epic last track, which has some great guitar and even more rock and psychedlic influences.
Flock - Inside Out
Another good prog record. A lot of violin here, and some stunning drum work here and there, even including a sponatous studio solo on one track. Really good, instrumental most of the time but still fairly enjoyable.
Ekseption - Best Of
Here you have a band rocking around some very classical tunes like Beethoven´s Fifth, Bach´s Air, Mozarts A La Turka as well as Rhapsody in Blue and Sabre Dance.
Fine renditions of really good pieces in modern versions, quite good as well.
The Electric Prunes - Mess in F Minor
Everyone who has seen Easy Rider will know their version of Kyrie Eleison(which is played after Jack Nicholson´s death, when they decide wheater they should visit the brothel in his honour.). The rest is very similar, with mainly church music beeing brought into the melodic rock era. Really good.
to be continued...

Re: My inherited Record Collection
Short Reviews(part 2 - even shorter reviews)
Medicine Head - One And One Is One
Feel good music. Soft and a bit poppy with some folk feel.
Horselips - Happy To Meet Sorry To Part
Sounds like medieval folk.
Really good as well!
David McWilliams - The Days Of Pearly Spencer
Fine. Everyone knows "The Days Of Pearly Spencer", of course. The other stuff is just as fine!
Georges Moustaki
Oh, lala!
