Buy any new albums lately?
Ok, I'll revive this one.
King Crimson - The Power to Believe (found it in Walmart, of all places!)
Haven't heard any King Crimson beyond Starless, and that was some years ago. I bought this based on word-of-mouth, Niko specificly I believe, and after listening to it last night, it like WOW, this is incredible! I need a few for listens to really form a good opinion, but it's definitely one of those albums that gets your attention on the first listen.

Re: Buy any new albums lately?
The Power to believe is awesome! The best new record I have bought this year so far (including Bananas).
Anyway, these came in the mail today:
King Crimson - Thrak (also awesome)
Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

Niko, let me know what you think of Six Degrees. I wrote a fairly lengthy commentary on the Rating Dream Theater albums thread in the Polls&List forum. I'm curious what your opinion will be.

Live in the USA - Mostly Autumn
The Fiddler's Shindig - Mostly Autumn
The Next Chapter (DVD) - Mostly Autumn
Bought them all at the concert on Saturday. They always sell their stuff at bargain prices at their gigs. Compare that with other other bands, e.g. I remember Deep Purple were selling the bootleg and soundboard box sets at twice the price of other outlets.

Re: Buy any new albums lately?
Yes I have just purchased a new album by a group called Iron Maiden. The title is "Dance Of Death" and as of this moment, I would nominate it for album of the year.
OUTSTANDING!

Mostly Autumn (my view)
The easy way to describe them is to say they're half Pink Floyd and half Fairport Convention (a classic British folk rock band, if you don't know who they are) and they're not ashamed to admit their influences . They mix prog rock, hard rock, and folk in equal quantities, with a very obvious 70s' sound, and end up with something completely unique (in my experience).
They have two lead vocalists, male and female, and a lot of backing harmonies (five voices on stage, not counting guest choirs ). They use a lot of acoustic elements in the songs and unusual instruments such as flute and violin. And they pick which voices and instruments fit each song, so every song sounds unique and not just guitar/drums/bass on every track.
They are all fantastic musicians. The lead guiar player plays like David Gilmour (and sings a bit like him too). The other lead vocalist sounds like... well, there isn't an easy comparison because she's got the best female voice in rock at the moment.
The songs have a lot of personal and emotional content and their best songs are all about the band's dead family members (err... no, that's not as depressing as it sounds, though it does tend to make you cry all the way through their gigs ).
Hmm... I could say more but I'd probably end up gushing
