Still have to empty my cache and then restart pc every now and again (about once a day) to participate/have access to the main page - strange.

Check your cookie settings. Runboard places cookies, and if they are not stored correctly, then you get problems with accessing pages.
Or you might have to check your cache settings.
If you use Netscape, they should be set to:
"Wenn die Seite nicht mehr aktuell ist"
(I don't know what the English-language version says.) Runboard will do the rest.
