Steve or Joe, either one would had been good enough for me. I do like Joe's guitar sound more than Steve's, but playing-wise they're both suited for the job.

i have just downloaded purple wth satrini live in japan ,from a site called www bearshare.co. just click on it type in deep purple and up it pops .excellent stuff .play the classics very good guitar work enjoy .found it by accident cheers guitarman

I believe my sentiments in these regards have been pretty well documented, but just to keep 'the record' up to date: I completely agree!
The only item I'd revise a bit is about 'Purple keeping Satch(Satriani)'...for the longest time I was under the impression that it was,for all intents & purposes, the band's decision to seek a different guitarist than Satriani, when in fact it was more Satriani's (and Satriani's management's) choice for him to not become a permanent member of Deep Purple...either way, the decision still saddens me a bit, in the sense of what could've/might've been, anyway.
