Alternately Schenker was apparently on the shortlist for Purple after Ritchie left in the 1990s, though had he joined at that stage it would have been a bit "out of the frying pan-into the fire " for the band!!

Yes, Michael tells this story all the times in interviews but I never heard the smallest hint from the purple camp so I'd take it with caution. Of course, Roger is a fan.

Funny that Sheehan and Phillips were involved as they were the rhythm section on the Roger Glover produced demos for the first MSG album
