JLT covering Lost In Hollywood
One word; awesome! Following hot on the heels of the "JLT is Pavarotti, he really is" thread (hehehe ) I thought I had to post this to redeem myself for a slight jibe I had at Joe. This one's a cover of one of my all-time fave Rainbow tracks (and definitely the best track on Down To Earth for me) which is every bit as good as Bonnet's version, if not better (vocally anyway, instrumentally it doesn't really compare). It can be found on JLT's Undercover 2 album.

Yep. JLT made an awsome job with Lost in Hollywood. It´s seems that he has a better voice now than in the 80's.
And, yes, maybe is (vocally) a better version.

I haven't heard it. But I do have a boot of him squeeling thru it with Rainbow on the DTC tour. TERRIBLE!

Re: JLT covering Lost In Hollywood
You really have to try the studio version. He goes for a much hoarser voice and vibe on it, it works very well indeed.

Re: JLT covering Lost In Hollywood
I just bought the two JLT's Undercover cd's, and while there are some good songs, most of it is quite boring and flat(IMHO).
Lost in Hollywood is a good cover but doesn't compete with the original.I was particullary dissapointed by "Hush", "We're an American Band", "Fool for your loving" and some of the ballads like "Waiting for a girl"...
I wish he would have put more guts and spirit into it.
The second album has some great guitarists as guests!

Re: JLT covering Lost In Hollywood
I've yet to get the first one (which has Hush and Street Of Dreams) but the second Undercover album is very enjoyable, well as much as a covers album can be. I agree with you about Fool For Your Loving, it does a sound a bit limp but Waiting For A Girl Like You is excellent, surely the sort of song JLT was born to sing!

Re: JLT covering Lost In Hollywood
I much prefer when he sings CCR's Fortunate son than an obvious ballad. My opinion...
