Lace Sensor help!!
I'll order Lace Sensor Golds for my new Strat, but I got a few questions to be answered because I think I'm a little 'poor-of-knowledge' on this issue.
1- On the net I saw some brands producing Lace Sensor, like a company named 'Lace'. It's the first time I heard about that company, so I don't know from which company it should be bought.
2- It's pretty close to the 1st one. I thought Lace Sensors were made by DiMarzio, but it seems like Fender is the only one makin' them, other than that 'Lace' I mentioned, is there any other producer than Fender?
3- I just read this in a post, there are Lace Sensor Hot Golds...?!?!?!? I knew Golds but what is Hot Golds. I was going to order Golds(neck and bridge, as you may guess ) but if it's a reasonable idea to order Hot Golds (tone-wise) than that should be the thing to do.

Re: Lace Sensor help!!
1&2 - They're only made by Lace Music, Fender just like to stick their logo on everything. Fender Lace Sensors are no different, they just have a different cover, much like their tuners being "Fender/Schaller" or "Fender/Gotoh" where it's the same mechanism but with a Fender F instead of the Schaller or Gotoh logo.
3 - erm.....sorry, can't help you there.
--- You should have stopped reading this post by now.

Re: Lace Sensor help!!
These are not Sensors but are called Lace Holy Grail pickups and curious if any players have tried the Holy Grails to offer their opinion?

Re: Lace Sensor help!!
Lace Sensors came in Gold (Vintage), Blue (Modern) and Red (Hot), the words in parentheses referring to their output. Ritchie uses the gold and Clapton used to. "Hot Golds" are a new one on me, usually people just put the Red in for a higher output pu.
The Lace Holy Grail's are different from the Sensors, I haven't tried those.

Re: Lace Sensor help!!
I don't know if LACE still make HOT GOLD but they certainly did! I've have them in one of my Strats still I think, I'd need to go check which one, they are quite good, like all LACE Sensors.
LACE invented them and sold some rights to FENDER but I believe that deal ended some time ago and now LACE supply them. I've attached a link to the spec for the HOT GOLDS.
LACE HOT GOLD PICKUPS
LACE used to wind pickups specially for anyone and I'd believe that Blackmore did not use the Standard GOLD but some specially wound version.
The late great Dawk, was selling some standard LACE GOLDS claiming they came from Blackmore's guitars( utter boll*cks and rubbish! ), and some people believed it and paid $200 a shot for these( normally selling for $35 as used!). They were mugged off, They were just early versions of LACE pickups which in my view had probably been rejected by Blackmore, if indeed he had ever even tried those actual pickups Dawk was selling. My view was the "Blackmore's pickups" thing was fantasy, like a lot of the Dawk stories.
Every LACE pickup has something to recommend it but personally I'm not fond of the GOLD versions. They are very weak and don't work well direct into the front of the amp. Via Blackmore's AIWA tape deck first then to the amp, perhaps they'd be fine.
LACE RED ( are more like Seymour QP but with way better definition)
LACE BLUE - Great in the Neck position for a fat bluesy sond
LACE SILVER - are like Texas Specials without the noise, a really great pickup, my favourite.
LACE PURPLE - hot Texas Special type sound
LACE GOLD - weak and a bit weedy, as above
LACE HOT GOLD - stronger output then a GOLD with good clarity. a better bet than the standard GOLD if you must go GOLD.
ALL LACE pickups are virtually noiseless and can be set virtually on top of the strings without any magnet wash at all. They all have good definition, some more articualte than others, but basically all good.

You just couldn't help yourself for another Dawk dig, couldn't you Jon?

This thread is about LACE SENSORS so why not stick to the subject matter Gatts, instead of diverting from it.
What I said about Dawk selling LACE SENSORS, claiming they came from Blackmore's guitars is entirely 100% true. He did sell them and he did claim they came from Blackmore's guitars and some people bought them on that basis.
You perhaps choose to believe that is true, that's your prerogative. Personally I do not. It's that simple. Each to their own.
Now if you have anything vaguely constructive to say about LACE SENSORS, assuming you any real experience of them at all, them spit it out, otherwise it's probably not a topic that needs your input.

Re: Lace Sensor help!!
Lace Hot Silver... this is the first time I have seen HOT SILVER by Lace but I have seen the "regular" Silver rated at 7.1K ohms so I am curious whether the HOT was used in the beginning and then dropped later on?

So... the 'bollocks and total rubbish' is simply your opinion.
