oooops
You know when you accidentally pour a bottle of paint remover over your dad's 70's strat... and he's on holiday... where's a cheap place in UK that does refinishes????

Re: oooops
You won't get a "cheap" refinish for a 70's Strat anywhere, I don't know exactly what year Fender's finishes changed but from the sound of it that guitar had a nitrocellulose lacquer finish if paint stripper could damage it so easily. To have it refinished would cost hundreds because it involves stripping all the finish off, grain filling if it's Ash, sanding sealer, base coat, colour coat and multiple clear coats in a spray booth.
Off the top of my head, the only place I think of that does refinishes is the John Birch Guitars workshop in Birmingham that does them for £200.

Re: oooops
Hmmm looks like im just gonna have to face the music as it were to father :S
Hmmm gd Q Niko, it's one of those situations that seem impossible but i simply left the guitar on the worktop in the garage which is workshop/music room and when i return there is an upturned can of paint remover on it.
Cheers for ur hep RH, i found another one in Brum aswell called Wood Worm run by a guy called Rob Williams (lol), he quoted £170 when i rang, but i guess me ol' man will chose where he wants it refinished, alternatively he'll like the look of a semi finished guitar

Re: oooops
Just tell him that the Fender Custom Shop is charging people hundreds of dollars extra to make their guitars look like that and you did it for free.
I've heard of Wood Worm before but I thought they just did custom guitars from scratch.

Oh my God!!!! You're going to be killed!!! If I had a 70s strat and somebody poured paint remover on it I don't want to think about what I should do to that person.

Re: oooops
hmmm, he arrived home this afternoon and i showed him the guitar. He was unnervingly quiet and took the guitar up to his room and sat there for about an hour and a half. All he's said to me since is that he's going to re-finish it. I dare not speak to him for a while. :S

Re: oooops
He seems to have taken it quite well...If I were him I'd have taken the guitar off you and then proceeded to bludgeon you to death with it.
