Re: The Musicians Survey
Started playing classical piano at 8 - 30 odd years ago then heard some guy called Jon something or other and was hooked. Various keyboards over the years but currently using Yamaha gear.
Would love to get my hands on a decent Hammond but it's just a bit too impractical to carry about...

Re: The Musicians Survey
I can make a nailfactor racket on the guitar and an even deeper racket on the Bass. I can make a softer racket on the acoustic. My career of playing for no one, while making the wife cringe, scaring the dog and alienating the neighbors has really taken off and it's right where I expected to be... Nowhere. I couldn't be happier.

Re: The Musicians Survey
I play keyboards in a pub band. On stage I play Roland and Korg. I have a small Hammond at home to prat about on. I used to have a Jen synth which was great fun but rather impractical, as it was monophonic, and only useful for playing Hawkwind numbers!

Re: The Musicians Survey
I play guitar. I'm not in a band at the moment.

Which models of Roland and Korg? Both companies make some great organ synths with realtime drawbar controllers.

Re: The Musicians Survey
I mostly use an old Roland E70, which I`ve had for years. Once at a gig, I knocked against my boom mic stand, which swung round and knocked my beer all over the keyboard. When I tried to play, all the patches played at once! We tipped it up and the beer poured out, so we took it into the toilets and dried it out under the hand drier before we could do the gig. Some of the keys were a bit sticky after that, but I got it mended and cleaned up inside, and it recovered!!
(moral - always stand your drink BELOW the level of your keyboard!)
The Korg I am using is an i3. I used to have an M1, but never liked it much. At least the i3 has a lot of the same patches, in case the Roland decides not to work. I got it as a trade-in at a music shop, and it didn`t have the manuals. I keep meaning to send off for them but I just don`t get around to it. So I have no idea how to use it as a sequencer. I tried to save a patch to disk once, and ended up wiping what was already there.

Re: The Musicians Survey
CatchtheRainbow,
Sounds like you have some interesting gear there. Very resourceful, rinsing the beerboard off in the toilet! I would have never thought to do that.
Have you considered an outboard, midi-controlled drawbar controller?
Allows you to take any synth and blend harmonics like a Hammond Organ. It's the next best thing if you don't want to spend the extra money for a drawbar dedicated synth.
