Re: Musicians and Instruments

I just formed a new band playing mostly DP and Rainbow material, as well as King Crimson, Whitesnake and others. I play a RB Ltd. Ed. Strat, and looking for a new strat, as I do not play with my Cort M700 (cool guitar though!).

Coming to influences, Ritchie , as you may all guess, Django Reinhardt, Bireli Lagrene, and my dad. He is a well known jazz guitar player here in Turkey, who is also influenced by Ritchie (actually Lazy is how he got into jazz guitar playing). His website is www.focanjazz.com , I'd like to hear what you guys think about his music, too. And for those hammond people, he got some stuff with B3 players, which he also adores!!

I´m a singer and harmonica player, but don´t put any hope on me, I´m disgusting at both functions.

I am the guitarist from www.mandrake-root.de

I play a Fender Strat thru either a Peavey 5150 or Marshall 900 depending on my location - playing the Blackmore style is sometimes a challenge as I usually play more like a more modern late-80's player - for Blackers I need to turn off all the distortion and play solos with light-weight crunch settings - like spitting feathers, but it is the only way - there is nothing worse than seeing someone playing DP songs doing whammy diving and tapping thru a wall of fat distortion.

and no, i do wear black but not the wig!

Re: Musicians and Instruments

I play guitar and have done for 12 years.

Used to be a massive Ritchie fan and was well into all that neo-classical stuff, but unfortunately I had a bit of a run in last year with a Subaru Impreza and really knackered my left hand. Couldn't play the thing for months and then somebody suggested I re-learn in an open tuning. The guitar was already missing the low E string as it snapped a few days before me accident, so all was set - a 5 stringer tuned to G like Keith Richards! Pretty much learnt a lot of blues stuff and just took it from there. Within a few months I was fine although I was now armed with a slide and 5 strings!

As a result of that I purchased a 1952-reissue Telecaster. Beautiful machine! I also have a crappy old acoustic I bought in WA which I carry around (picked up a few air miles that has) as well as a 1975 Stratocaster in blonde with a white scratch plate and black pick-ups - I replaced the original ones with Lil' 69ers! Got an array of other acoustics as well (some good, some ok) plus a bass, a mandolin, a banjo and a Les Paul standard. This all runs through a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL!

I suppose I am one of the few (if not the only) drummer here. I play CB and Sabian right now and hope to get up to Ludwig and Zildjian this summer.

Main drummers that influenced me are

Bonham, Paice, Appice, Rich, Ward etc

Re: Musicians and Instruments

I am not in a band as I have a lot on my plate in other areas and cannot commit to such a situation with other musicians.

I am into Classical Guitar, Flamenco Guitar, Jazz, Jazz Rock Fusion, and Hard Rock. I have played guitar for over 20 years and bass for over 10 years and starting to rebuild my life and increase music gear again after several personal losses during this decade.

Blackmore's influence on me consists of looking at music gear in a new light in order to achieve an improved tone. His compositional and technical skills have also inspired me to improve upon my own abilities as I am never happy with I have achieved thus far.

In addition to being a Blackmore admirer I highly rank guitarists such as Pierre Bensusan, Lenny Breau, Pasquale Grasso, Allan Holdsworth, Alex Machacek, Matteo Mancuso and bass players such as Hadrien Feraud.

Over the years I have been developing my composing skills in the Hard Rock, Jazz, Fusion and Orchestral/Chamber forms and wish to start recording once I have the proper music gear in my possession. Very ambitious but I have to practice patience until all is realized.

At the moment I have commissioned a company to build an 8-string multi-scaled guitar (25-1/2" to 23-5/8") and another luthier expressed interest in my custom guitar body design as a potential production model (6, 7 and 8 strings) for the public in the near future. The following list is what I currently have in my collection:

Warmoth Strat and Neck (waiting for more parts to arrive for completion)
