our next gig...
Is December 28
Proposed Playlist:
Enter Sandman (Metallica)
Misunderstood (original) (instrumental jam)
Original Score (Original)
Black Night (bass solo outro)
Another One Bites the Dust (includes extended bass solo)
Smoke On the Water
Sunshine of Your Love (Cream)
Child in Time (extended guitar solo)
Desert Nights (original)
That should keep us on stage for about 1 hour and 10min.
If u r in my local vicinity, i'm also playing bass at my end of year year level assembly tommorow, but its just the crappy Zephyr Song (RHCP), with a show off bass bit tacked onto the start, and another show off bass solo tacked onto the end. (i hate school band, now i remember why i don't do music at school anymore!)

Re: our next gig...
Hey, best of luck to you! Looks like a really good set list! Nice time of year, too - inbetween Christmas and New Years, when a lot of people are on vacation and looking to party. Sounds like you might be able to help them along a bit! Where are you playing? I mean, is it a club or a bar or something like that?
If you're ever looking for another song to just jam out on, why not try Green Onions? It's a little out of the style you seem to be playing, but it's a lot of fun to play, and lots of opportunity to solo! The Blues Brothers version also has an extended spoken part, where anyone can just go off on any subject they want. I always thought it would be fun to try it with a more crunchy guitar sound, to make it heavier than the original version. Maybe someday...

Didn't Purple try that with Ramshackle Man?

Re: our next gig...
Good luck with the show, I'm playing myself that night so it might be a bit difficult to get there in time from England....
mind you, Englishmen may not be welcome downunder after 29 Novemeber.

As for Big J's comment above, I too am surprised that Booker T's solicitors ain't been knocking at DP's door yet...

Re: our next gig...
Well everything went down reasonably well.
The playlist was as above, except we did Lazy instead of Child in Time. (we were too lazy to work out something to play instead of the keyboard intro!)
I would be lying if I said that we didn't make any mistakes at all, but there were no big ones, and the drunkards at the bar seemed to enjoy the show.
I thought my bass solo at the end of Black Night was better than my long one during another one bites the dust, but who cares.
However unless we can find a permenant singer I think the band is going to fall apart (the guy we had was fighting not to sing like Robbie Williams). Alex, our drummer has already approached me about starting a jazz band (I told him i wasn't interested 'not that i don't like jazz, or think that I wouldn't be any good at it... but I wanna play rock 'n' roll)... and Scott (the guitarist) says we need a new drummer.
So while this gig i'd say went fairly well I'm not sure how many more will go ahead.
