Does Jon Lord really hate the internet?
He once claimed on a DVD interview that it "bugged" him. Which I can't blame him, as it's bugged me from time to time as well.
But the way I see it, for every inconvenience that a new technology brings, you have to step back and appreciate the overall positive marvel of it as well.
Fact is, we are better able to communicate with each other-- and access info. on subjects specific to our interests-- now than we ever were able to do, prior to the mid 90's.
Being the forward and innovative guy I've always taken him for, I hope he doesn't hate this technology too much. I think, much more so (to his credit) than Ritchie Blackmore, Jon has always come across as....
1) DIPLOMATIC SPOKESMAN
2) ELDER STATESMAN
and
3) PRO DEEP PURPLE FAN
I have never thought of JL as someone who would intentionally turn an interested fan away, so I was thrilled to see him come in here every now and again as keys1.
However, I haven't seen him come here in quite awhile, and I hope nothing any of us said turned him off too badly.
I for one appreciate the fact that the internet has allowed me to come closer to my musical hero than ever before....as well as him to come closer to me (if he so chooses, and that's up to him), but my concern is that if he really does hate the internet, then the few nice keys1 appearences we've had here, might be a thing of the past.
For all of our sakes let's hope not. Jon, you're welcome here anytime, and I for one would like to see you back soon.

That's probably what he hates about it! His every move, his every recording, his every decision, the way he thinks, the way he speaks, what he should be playing, what he has played, what he did good, what he did bad, what he had for breakfast on Wednesday 16 September 1981, everything!
It's all discussed here. Nothing is sacred.
The could become quite unsettling after a while!
