The Artwoods Live

I know there is a boot circulating around of The Artwoods, Live At Wales, 1964.

But the other day, I came across another, The Artwoods Live in Denmark, 1967.

Tracklisting:

Side One
1. I Need Your Loving
2. Be My Lady
3. Day Tripper
4. Tic Toc Toe
5. Shake
Side Two
1. Black Mountain
2. Song of the 'J' Men
3. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

I believe it was released on the Italian label, Gogo.

Anyone heard it? Is it a bootleg, or is the Italian company legit?

Somehow I get a feeeling that it´s a boot, but a google on gogo +artwoods made it show up as first hit, and that somehow indicates it´s legit:/ But the site was a geocities.jp site, and that somehow indicates the opposite.

Artwork also indicates boot.

Apparantly copyrighted in 1990 (many bootleg companies write copyright), by gogo.

And the release nr..."gogo-02" also indicates boot to me.

Cheers!

Yeah, I got the same web site when searching for it.

I saw a copy on Ebay, that had boot written all over it, but after seeing that an Italian lp existed, I thought maybe it is a rare official item that has been pirated. No mention is made on The Highway Star discography though, meaning that it is probably illegitimate.

The copy on Ebay is currently at £12.50. I gave up after it exceeded a fiver, as I don't want to pay that much, and shouldn't have to, for a CD-R bootleg.

But then, is it a really rare bootleg? I dunno! Never knew it existed.

I was googling a bit yesterday, and only ended up with that one link to Live In Denmark, however I did stumble over yet another Artwoods recording, that I don´t know of.

Actually there are 3 live recordings around, plus various bbc shows and a couple of acetate/demo recordings. The one in Wales, I recorded in 1964 on a very small battery operated portable recorder, therefore sound, like all of the live ones at that time are fair to poor. The only one that I know about hat was in fact professionally recorded was at the 100 club in late 1965 or early 66,but this recording has never come to light. I think it was intended to be released by decca, but it never proceeded. Tony.

So Tony...
you recorded the Wales show huh, very interesting... the Decca 100 club, you're right about, and the rest, well I have everything there is, that was officialy released, and if you could tell me of any acetate titles, that would be appreciated, otherwise I'm inclined to think, that they lie in some vault somewhere, if they do exist in any known collectors pile, I would think I'd heard about it by now, bootlegs I have two of, but they are of little interest to me.

An Artwoods acetate would fetch one quite a bit of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, no debating.

I am surprise the BBC and the 100 Club pro recordings have not been released yet as far as I know. The Art Wood Combo made at least two pre-Artwoods demos which were available on the OOP Incredible Sound Show Stories Volume 5 called Yellow Street Boutique on the defunct label Dig The Fuzz Records from 1996. The track listing is as follows:

Side 1
     1. The Birds - You're On My Mind
     2. The Art Wood Combo - Chicago Calling
     3. The Silence - Down Down
     4. Les Problemes - Dodecaphonie
     5. The Dave Miller Set - Why? Why? Why?
     6. The Silence - Cold On Me
     7. The Throb - Black
     8. The Silence - Julie September

 Side 2
     1. The Birds - You Don't Love Me
     2. Blues & Roots - Leaving Here
     3. Lester Square & The GTs - Sack O'Woe
     4. The Art Wood Combo - Hoochie Coochie Man
     5. The Silence - Forgive Me If I'm Wrong
     6. Stuart Beckett - Breakthrough
     7. Izzy Pound - Na Na Na Na
     8. The Silence - To Sarah B

Sorry Gillian. Only just noticed your reply from years ago. Are you aware of the 100 club recording. Any ideas who may have a copy. All I know is that Edsel had it and considered for release, but decided not to and “returned to owner” whoever that was.
Thanks, Tony.
