A question to Jon

Jon, you're out there somewhere, so I thought I would ask you about the future. What are your upcoming projects, ideas etc.?
Is there a chance of reviving teh Gemini Suite? And how about recording Boom of the Tingling Strings. Do you think it's possible to release it on CD?
And could you tell us more about the *jam* you're going to do with Ian Paice in Zermatt? Can we expect any songs from First of the Big Bands or Malice in Wonderland?

All the best and good luck! emoticon

Wouldn´t that be a bit uncreative and boring step back into the past? emoticon/emoticon/emoticon

A good meritoric question, Milan emoticon HOWEVER, Gemini Suite needs reviving as it hasn't been performed since 1970, I think. So in that case it's definitely not making a step back. Check out the 1999 version of Concerto. It was updated and thanks God for that! It now sounds much more fresh and manages to stand the test of time. Gemini Suite deserves the same approach. BUT I know what you're getting to... still it's not the point in that case, milan emoticon

I personally didn´t see the point in re-doing the Concerto and even touring with it at the time and I still don´t see it now, but maybe that´s just because this was the only year since I know DP that I haven´t seen them on tour.

It´s just how you see it I think. When Gillan redoes tracks he hasn´t done in 20-30 years it´s the same, of course there are some DP tracks on it too which I neither mind nor am bothered about(but if his either is to celebrate his career by redoing a song from each album in his 40 years he of course has to include DP stuff). What makes this interesting is stuff like the IGB tracks that will be on there and some very old stuff he has only done once and says he will update it to a more modern sound.

Exactly the same, that´s the point indeed.

Well, I guess we won't be able to agree on that matter, so there's no point in elaborating on that topic. Tha last thing I'll say is that there is one more, very important (if not the most important) factor - you simply can't compare historical importance of Concerto with Gillan's solo stuff. Concerto had a much bigger impact on music (both classical and rock) at that time, whereas Gillan's solo stuff, which I adore and listen to very often, is just part of the period in time when it was recorded, nothing more. And that's why I can't see the point there and still think Gemini Suite requires to be *reborn*. But I of course accept your point of view.

I reckon Jon's earned the right to do whatever he feels like at the time. Of course, if he chooses to excercise that right with a release of 'Boom ...' & the concerto with george from Sydney a couple of years ago (I saw the second night, that would do fine!), a return visit to Melbourne to play, and another PI/BTN-style album, I'd be very happy!

This is an interseting project. Read on THS Jeff Healey will be playing on WABMC. How fitting.
