Did anyone see the Munich Show last night?

Review and / or setlist eagerly anticipated?

Was Pete York back behind the kit?

Re: Did anyone see the Munich Show last night?

hi guys,

just got back to vienna from munich, damn i´m tired.
anyway, the show was a blast indeed. jon was in great spirits as was the rest of the band & players. the setlist was basically the same as on the dvd - with only "the sun will shine again" missing (alas no frida).

BUT ... and that was probably the only disappointement as far as I´m concerned :
no sam brown.
i think her replacement was, and I don´t really remember, a dutch singer called Sabine Van Der Baaken, or something like that. She sang "one from the meadow" and did quite a good job. But me being a huge sam brown fan... you know.
i don´t recall any the names of the musicians, but there was no pete york to be seen either.

actually they did play one song, that miller anderson asked jon to put into the setlist, which name escapes me as well at the moment ("That´s why I´m singing the blues"??? I dunno). They dedicated it to jim capaldi.

a few great jon lord quotes though:

to some drunken guy in the front row who kept on interupting him:
"You still do take your pills, now don´t you ?"

to the audience, after the guitarist asked him if the next song was in A :
"See, I never had that problem with Blackmore!"

to the audience:
"Last time I was here at the Herculessaal was 30 years ago ... good god, I was 7 years old back then . (starts laughing to himself)"

the highlights for myself must have been :

Pictured Within (what better way to start a concert - miller anderson in top form. what a voice)
Colone Again (GREAT percussion and even better then on record + the BEAST in action)
De Profundis (complete with typical DP Hammond posing emoticon
Bouree (simply astonishing...)

Go and see this show if you can - you won´t regret it.

Alex

That´s Why God Is Singing The Blues from Gillan´s Dreamcatcher album? Wow, I´m sure that suits his voice, but Miller Anderson sings so much songs usually that have Blues in the title it could have been something else.

If you have the Concerto ´99 album, it´s on that see if it was the one.

The song is called "That's why we sing the blues", not Gillan's one...
BTW: The gig in Stuttgart was great, too!

the guitarist asked for the tuning note
'A' on behalf of the string players.

i think not beacuse not a single hear on ritchie's wig would care for any stringplayers.. let alone he would ask for a tuning note for them:P

So where is the difference if he asked for himself or for the string players? Isn´t it funnier when he asks for himself?
