Re: Our Lord on tv
It was great to see Jon clearly getting the biggest applause of the evening when he walked down the stairs during the introductions ! Way to go, keys1 ! There was also a short video greeting from Deep Purple (from Thailand, or some place).

He was. But there were only two or three seconds were you could see half of his head (only the beard)...

See how much better Europe is than the US. They never show anything like that here.
Some of the biggest showmasters here in Germany grew up with Deep Purple and are still Purple fans. And they use their position to present the band from time to time...

Re: Our Lord on tv
That's right. Host Thomas Gottschalk is a DP fan, I think he especially likes Jon of whom he last night said "the King is here". There's also an amusing anecdote TG sometimes tell about how Jon, sometime in the 70s, tried to pick up TG's girlfriend (now wife) in front of him. In his popular TV show "Wetten Dass...?" there recently was a contestant whom TG thought resembled JL, actually, the guy looked more like Charles Bronson to me. TG brielfy interviewed Jon and Ian Anderson when they'd finished SOTW and Tull's "Locomotive Breath", asking Ian: "do you remember how many times you've done LB, can you recall how many times you've sung it ?". To which Ian replied: "a lot of times, but probably not half as many times as Jon has done SOTW !". He continued: "this is the first time I've done SOTW", and Jon asked: "and how do you feel ?". Ian: "I feel a lot better now we got it over, it's a great song". BTW, there were plenty of camera shots of Jon but only during the songs he played on, the third song was "Blinded By The Light" sung by Chris Thompson.

Re: Our Lord on tv
Anderson played flute in SOTW. Chris Thompson and Bobby Kimball shared the vocal parts. It was a short version, only 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Re: Our Lord on tv
To bad we don't get to see anything like that in the United States.
Nahh!! MTV doesn't have time for such nonsense. They're too busy showing video of hip-hoppers and their possies walking into nightclubs and restaurants...and showing rappers' million dollar mansions in LA...
