Time consuming, but worth it I'm sure. I don't recommend The Last Rebel picture, but maybe it's just me...nondisclosed_email@example.com (Gillans micstand)Mon, 26 Jul 2004 21:09:09 +0000 Re: The Last Rebelhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113674,from=rss#post113674https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113674,from=rss#post113674quote:Nigel Young wrote: the film is often slow and the dialogue thin. Mhhh, is that alone a bad thing? There are many films that I consider as my favourites that are brilliant and still would fit that description.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Milan Fahrnholz)Mon, 26 Jul 2004 19:49:57 +0000 Re: The Last Rebelhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113673,from=rss#post113673https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113673,from=rss#post113673quote:But how good is the film, and just how good was Joe Namath at football? One of the most overated athletes of all time, if you ask me. If he never won the Super Bowl and you look at his stats, he would have never gotten into the Hall of Fame. Of course I just turned 3 when the Jets won the Super Bowl, so I didn't exactly saw him in his prime.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Diostillrocks)Mon, 26 Jul 2004 16:06:28 +0000 Re: The Last Rebelhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113672,from=rss#post113672https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113672,from=rss#post113672Joe Namath was a famous quarterback for the New York Jets. He played there from 1965-1977. He was most famous for guaranteeing a victory against a mighty Baltimore Colts team that was favored to win Super Bowl III (in 1969) by 18 points. He was able to back-up his guarantee with an MVP performance and came out-victorious, as his team won 16-7. That game is the only championship game won by the New York Jets in their 45-year existence. I’m surprised that delusional-ranged big-time New York Jet fan Bad Mofo fellow hasn’t vented his spew about The Greatest Team, Game, Quarterback” ever. Come to think of it what happened to Bad Mofo? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Bud Abbott)Wed, 21 Jul 2004 19:19:18 +0000 Re: The Last Rebelhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113671,from=rss#post113671https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113671,from=rss#post113671Yes, Rahul, I've got the film. There's a review I did at http://www.deep-purple.net/review-files/lastrebel/lastrebel.htm. As I said in the review, the film is often slow and the dialogue thin. Without the music, I probably wouldn't watch it again. I even bought the book, a set of lobby promo photo stills and a movie trailer. Namath I can't vouch for as a footballer but has a certain charisma on screen. Jack Elam does what he usually does in Westerns. Bernie, having personally gone through all the reels of master tapes to compile the CD, there's nothing of any significance in the film that didn't make it to the CD. In fact, there's stuff on the CD that didn't make it to the film. It would be interesting because on most films there are some more musical parts than released on soundtrack. Years ago somebody told me that Joe Namath's career as a western-movie-actor was stopped shortly after he made advertisement for man's underwear.nondisclosed_email@example.com (bernie)Sun, 11 Jul 2004 15:07:10 +0000 The Last Rebelhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113669,from=rss#post113669https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p113669,from=rss#post113669Has anyone actually seen this film? I've got the Ashton, Gardner & Dyke soundtrack, but never come across the film. Some great compositions by Ashton and Lord on this. But how good is the film, and just how good was Joe Namath at football? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rahul)Sat, 10 Jul 2004 17:54:40 +0000
