Re: Jon's first Hammond?
According to Ritchie, Jon played piano on You Really Got Me...where he testified that it was Jimmy Page and not Dave Davies that played the famous guitar solo with the slashed speaker cones.

Thanks for the Artwoods/Amazon link.

The first Hammond organ that Jon Lord bought was a L-100 model (when he was in the Artwoods). Previosly he played a Lowrey (poor) organ.
Jon didn't buy it, the band did. So, when he left the Artwoods (by then calling themselves St. Valentine's Day Massacre), the organ stayed with the band who continued on with a new keyboard player.

According to Ray Davies, in his autobiography, Jon was not on You Really Got Me, it was Arthur Greenslade. Jon was though on three album tracks on their first album, playing organ on "Bald-Headed Woman", "Long Tall Shorty" and "Lover Not A Fighter".

Re: Jon's first Hammond?
I´m a member of the Spanish forum of Deep Purple, so i speak in Spanish and a little English. Please, sorry if i can't explaine my opinions better.
Nigel & b3burner: That´s right... The Artwoods bought the L-100. Note that the L-100 model is a "Spinet" type (not a "Console" type like is the C-3). The spinets have two keyboards of 44 keys each (these types of organs are placed at a lowest range than the "Console" type, which has 61 keys in each keyboard). However, the spinnets has tonewheels and valves. The L-100 model was enhanced later in the models L-101, 102, 103, 111, 112, 122, 133 and 143.
There are 4 ranges of Hammond Organs:
1) Concert-church: (e.g. Hammond G-100, RT-100). The main characteristic of them is the 32-note concave pedalier.
2) Console: (i.e. C-3, B-3, X66, etc). These ones have a plain pedalier of 25 notes, two keyboards of 61 notes each, preset keys, and complete sets of drawbars.
3) Spinets: (i.e. M-3, L-100, T-100, etc). These organs has a 12-note pedalier, 44-note each keyboard, the lower keyboard placed at the left of the upper keyboard and are self-contained (are equipped with amplifier and speakers).
4) Home organs: (i.e. F-100, Piper). Lowest range, lowest functions and price. Only one keyboard, self-contained with no drawbars.

Maybe it's The Kinks being defensive....or maybe it's Ritchie winding everyone up again.
